Should we be worried

I think we'll struggle against Kentucky's length and athleticism, seems like the kind of team we should beat but gives us fits. If we can get by them, I am confident we can make a run. In a chalk FF run, they are the team I would have the least confidence in us beating. Not unbeatable but they just seem like the kind of teams TJ has struggled with in the past. Hope we see them upset, I'd rather face Santa Clara's size than UK's athletes. If we get to the 2nd weekend, its on.

Respectfully, I'm tired of this narrative, and hope this team puts it to bed. You're absolutely right that Kentucky could give Iowa State problems on offense. But Arizona has a helluvalotta length and athleticism, and Iowa State played them close two of the last three meetings. Houston is plenty athletic, hasn't stopped Iowa State from beating them. St. John's has size—or at least one of the best bigs in the country—and physicality, and Iowa State went blow for blow with them. I don't want to see Kentucky, but if Iowa State can play with the focus it had against Arizona, there's no particular matchup that worries me. Now, obviously that's the if of the tournament

Here is why I am encouraged. Ever since the second half of the ASU game at Hilton, our team has played great. And one thing that no one has really brought up, Arizona had a huge advantage on us in that they played only one game before they played us, we played two games in two days. Despite that we took them to the find possession. I think if we had fresh legs, only one game like Zona had, we take them. I doubt Lipsey goes 1/10 from the field against Zona if he had played two games in two days.

Of course we should be worried, precisely because a final four run would mean so much and this team has the best chance in modern school history. Even a better chance than the 2000 team which had to go up against Michigan State before the final four because the committee was a horrible joke and ****** ISU. This year the field is wide open, and we have as good a chance as any of the top teams. If Iowa State doesn't at a minimum reach the elite eight, I will get over it, but it will take weeks to months.

As long as the free throws are going in and shots are mainly falling then I feel like they have a great shot to make a deep tournament run... here's to hoping!

At the end of the day this is the best cyclone team in a long time, they have a near-ideal draw and they look like they're playing their best basketball of the season right now. I know anything could happen but a deep run absolutely should be the expectation for this team, and if that isn't the expectation for some then I don't know what type of team they're waiting for. Maybe I haven't been an ISU fan long enough but anything short of a close Elite Eight loss will be incredibly disappointing and emotionally hedging by predicting early exits won't take that away if they lose early.

As a guy we all admire once said: "People expect me to do big things. I will!"

Do not fear high expectations. Embrace them. Let them fuel the excellence that brought you to this point.

This is not to say that we aren't deserving, but there's a lot of recency bias on these "experts" picks. They remember how we played in KC, and they remember things like Michigan looking shakey all tournament, etc.

Purdue seems to be a trendy pick right now as well. But in March they barely beat Northwestern and gave up 97 points to Wisconsin.

Just my two cents but it feels like outside of Michigan, the B1G is getting WAY too much love this year. The bottom tier is absolutely awful and I wouldn't call the middle tier super strong either. It just feels like everyone has pushed their chips all in on on these predictive analytic tools but they almost feel outdated with conferences getting bigger etc.
