Hate this thread, but I get it. But you just don't break the records that Purdy has and throw him aside for the back-up because Iowa's defense did it to us...again! Brock will start all year and deservedly so. Some of you are forgetting the MANY MANY times he has made a play, carried us, or made something out of nothing when the OLine wasn't quite as good as we hoped, etc. We just wish it would have happened yesterday but has anything looked in sync these first two games? And besides, do you really think that Iowa's defense was playing with the same intensity or scheme when Dekkers was in there the last 6 min. 'when the touchdown occurred'?

Yep. Need to prove that there is a legit threat over the top, both in a receiver to get deep and a QB to hit him deep.

Look at the difference Desean Jackson made for the offenses he was on throughout his career, even if he didn't have huge production on his own. All of a sudden Kolar is given more room to work with, same with XH. Breece gets to run against a lot fewer stacked boxes. Would do wonders for the offense if someone could step up in that area.
Way more than an over the top threat we need WRs that can get in and out of breaks. Everybody else utilizes those types of WRs, but other than D. Jones we haven’t had anyone even average in that regard. Maybe Milton was before injuries bu no more.

They’ve had years to recruit them, and the fact we don’t is consistent with their rudimentary approach to the passing (offense). Does anyone feel Manning is good at creating space, separation, or heaven forbid an uncovered receiver? Particularly in a ball control game? Our route trees often are so first order basic and predictable, partially because it’s like they only recruit for certain routes.

Then add in Purdy has a weakish arm, slow on reads/anticipation, is no longer a real scramble threat, and both UNI and Iowa can smother this offense. It’ll be better against teams with less discipline, and as Tom is forced to take more risks

The point remains. Past performance shouldn't guarantee future playing time. If Dekkers can do everything Brock can do and more who cares that Brock has some school records.

The coaches know who gives us the best chance to win. And deep down we all know that. Backup quarterbacks ...always the favorite when things go sour on the field. I give Campbell credit for giving Dekkers the time he did yesterday. Let Brock take it in from the sideline. But seriously doubt it effects who starts next game or the confidence he still has in our senior quarterback.
