With the so called fight between the Big 10 and SEC about conference games. Would it be better to require at least 10 P4 games vs the number of conf games. I mean part of the issue is the SEC believes they are so overpowered now that they cant, but I say, they are the ones that wanted all those teams, now they have to deal with it. That being said they are padding their schedules with multiple G5 and lower games. Several rarely play 10 P4 games where it is a requirement for the B12.

So Maybe they need to change the required games, similar to only 1 FCS game counts towards wins. Maybe they need to say only 1 G5 game counts, or teams must play 10 power games to get into playoff. That would at least even up the schedules a bit. Although it would cause an issue for the G5 inclusion in the playoff.

I’ve lost track of how many different threads this exact same tv contract/bids debate has been discussed in.

Spot the ball and win some games then we can talk.

He was completely right about House fixing everything though...

Hold on, I'm being passed a note.

The direct SBJ link is behind a paywall. The cornnation link provides direct quotes from Ourand's SBJ article confirming that Fox/BTN own 100% of the B10's media rights and the NBC and CBS deals were essentially sublicensed (both are paying Fox/BTN, not the B10).

And yes, we all know it's a TV contract but the point was Fox controls the B10, not Tony Pettiti, and they will continue to attempt to manipulate the future of CFB to their benefit as will ESPN/SEC. NBC does have some influence with their ND deal but CBS isn't a relevant stakeholder at this point.
That’s not what it said. Screenshot me where it says Fox is sublicensing the rights to CBS and NBC. Screenshot any source that directly says that

From the link:

"What makes these negotiations interesting is that (a) the Big Ten has already agreed to grant all of their broadcast rights to BTN, and (b) Fox quietly acquired an additional 10% ownership in BTN from the conference schools over the last year.
Since Fox controls BTN, which in turn controls all of the Big Ten’s rights, it’s made for unique negotiations because the other networks are having to make their pitch to Fox along with the Big Ten.

Fox/BTN controls 100% of B10 rights so the NBC and CBS deals were sublicensed.

Got it?

SIAP, but it's kind of amazing how quickly we've gone from "we can't have a playoff" to "we need as many games as possible."

Oh my God. I’m getting frustrated now. Whatever your day job is please don’t quit and start a business. And look up the difference between a sale and a sublicense.

I’m going to have a drink at 2 pm on a Wednesday.

I'm at the point where I wish they'd just go back to the traditional bowl system and we'd have a really fun NYD to cap off the year instead of dragging it out until damn near February.

I can no longer assist you with your mental limitations on these topics.

Fox/BTN clearly own 100% of the B10 media rights so they were sublicensed (or "sold" with your limited vocab) to NBC and CBS. Bottom line is that Fox/BTN controls the B10 with 100% ownership for all sports.

IMO The bowl system is one of the things that contributes to the disfunction of this sport. The bowls' glamor has been tarnished by player opt-outs and the increased amount of bowls.

There werent opt outs until the BCS "title game" was invented. I mean BYU was able to win a national title by winnng the Holiday Bowl.

Link or source (not cornnation) for that 100% number?

Already cited SBJ/Ourand as the source. Cornnation directly quotes SBJ/Ourand in the link previously provided. I am unable to access the SBJ/Ourand article directly due to their paywall.

Not sure why this is now being disputed. This was previously confirmed several months ago here in another thread, probably the Realignment thread. Hell, even Friendly Spartan accepted it.

You’re so far off base I don’t even know where to start.

I’ll start by pushing back that pooling media rights would double the revenue from the existing media rights of the P4/G5. Right now CFB in totality earns about $4.3 billion in media rights annually. Double that to $8.6.

For comparison, the NFL earns $9.3 billion annually in media rights. The average NFL game garners 17 million viewers. The average CFB game does 1.9 million. And yet you’re telling me networks will be willing to pay 93% of what they pay the NFL. No way.
You and some others here need to listen to today's CW/Blum podcast starting at around the 15 minute mark:
