Half the playoff field would automatically be SEC/Big10

I don't care if it is 12 or 16. Frankly since we already have 12 might as well make those other 4 teams play the extra games as well.

However, the narrative since the creation of a playoff has been not to get the teams with the best resumes or records in but "the best teams" which the talking heads seem to think they can divine. Now we are throwing out "the best teams" and instead we are going to guarantee half of the spots to the SEC and Big 10? What happened to "the best teams"?

Just a stupid money grab by the guys who already have the most money.

An even more absurd proposal that provides more ammo for the likes of Saban/Campbell/Feds to completely bust things up.

It would be better *technically* for us but having guaranteed spots makes the entire season an exhibition and not sure how long you keep interest in the regular season games.

Want to be like the NBA and have no one watch the regular season and only the postseason? Do this.

Agreeing to this is the only way the B12 is going to get two teams in every year, unless we end up with a situation like the first year where we had both TCU and Baylor with one loss. Watch the B10/SEC try to push something along the lines that the 2nd team from the B12/ACC must be ranked in the top 16 or so to get a bid. Hoping to screw those leagues out of a 2nd bid some years.

When is the SEC going to start playing 9 conference games or make a rule that everyone has to play 10 P4 schools during the regular season to qualify?

I think at this point it’s very clear those two conferences should just separate, that’s what’s happening and that’s what they want. nothing can really stop it. I’ve kind of accepted that college football that we all loved is near the end.

We will see if regional minor league sports with 40 teams is better than nation wide college football with 80 teams.

Yeah, just get it over with. I’m down to just watching Iowa State anyways.

Question for the group, what number of Autobids should the Big 12 be happy with?
2 already seems like more than we will get in the current format. I think the Big 12 would agree with this proposal.

If they could argue it up to 3 that would be a home run for the Big 12, but that would leave only 1 G5 slot and 1 at large (mostly for ND).

Agree completely, never should have gone past 8 teams for this very reason

This was always the most ideal. Especially since it’s a sport, where let’s be honest, there are only at most 4 elite teams each year? Some years not even that many.

Towards the end of the year I just accepted it as it is, a glorified tv product, and actually enjoyed the end of the season and playoffs.

It's because the B1G and SEC are hoping for pushback. They want an excuse to justify splitting off into their own league. They win either way.

Why? The NFL has 44% percent of the league in the playoffs even with this proposal counting only P4 schools only 23% get into the playoffs. Wouldn't this make regular season matter more because you can survive one bad loss or maybe 2 good losses and still make it in?

needing more than even 2 auto bid is childish

Do they actually think a 16 team playoff would ever have less than 3-4 of their teams without auto bids?
This is a fantastic point. LOL what a weird hill for them die on.

If every FBS team that isn't Ohio St., Michigan, USC, Penn St., Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas, aTm, Georgia, & LSU (and maybe a couple others) was smart they would all come together and form their own division with a 10 game regular season, 24 or 32 team national championship tournament, a salary cap, and centralized regional scheduling. Then just have a more competitive and interesting product that keeps more of the identity of college football than the Ego 10.

Now getting everyone to collectively come together for the good of the whole is probably about impossible.
