Sciatica pain

They did imaging nothing bad found. They have me on metylprednisolone and cyclobenzaprine
That’s good, it’s almost always a disc issue but good to get looked at anyways to make sure it’s not a clot or something more severe.

The metylprednisolone is what I would expect but the cyclo is kinda surprising. Was the pain causing any kind of spasms or were you getting bolts of lighting style pain?

Mainly spasms but I notice from time to time pain that goes all the way down the leg.

Anyone been through this and have tips/help?

Been dealing with lower back pain for 2 weeks then woke up Thurs to pain through the back and down the leg.

Went to doctor. They have me on a few medications.

This really sucks as standing or sitting has me in excruciating pain.
Get an X Ray to see if you have something going on with your spinal column that is causing the issue and then---depending on what your X Ray reveals and what your medical team advise, get into a Pysical Therapy program ASAP IF that is what your medical team advises. It is likely that your muscles in your lower back have gotten compromised or weakened and that there is an imbalance in muscle strength that is allowing things to shift around a bit.

Makes total sense then. Follow that as well as PT exercises plus some lifestyle changes and you will be fine in a bit. Fair warning though that it can and most likely will come back if you don’t regularly integrate those changes moving forward

I need to lose weight as I'm around 380.

Problem is I need to lose the pop but I need my caffeine.

Quick hitter- seated glute stretch. Google for pics and vids. Friend of mine who has bad sciatica does this and showed me. Kind of takes the pressure off and helps relieve.

Long term, what others have said. Stretch your hams, build core strength in various ways. Walking helps me a lot, also bicycle crunches are a personal fave.

Lot of additional sources of caffeine without the sugar bombs. Zero cal or very low cal energy drinks, coffee, matcha, black tea, even just switching to diet to start would be massive even if it’s not perfect.

If your favorite pop has a “zero” version those tend to taste better than diet. Start there.

Personal recommendation Celsius most flavors taste pretty good and 200mg of caffeine in 12oz.
Grabbed one in a convenience store because it was a freebie, thought damn this caffeine hits different, looked things up diet Pepsi 12oz is 35 mg. LOL no wonder it hit different.

This sounds like my last gummy experience.

Had to give up the treadmill because it led to me developing bursitis in my hip. Don't have the problem anymore when I do the same distance outside on the ground. Also have to avoid track surfaces. I guess my point is that you may have some kind of exercise routine that turned on you.

Might be your shoes, too. Could be time for new ones?

And...one last thought as to cause...are you overdue for a new mattress?

As for pain, Ibuprofen and the heating pad were my good friends during the dark days.

Good luck to you, Rulzz. When your back hurts, you hurt all over. Scout's honor.

Good luck man!

Yoga helped me big time. There's nothing quite like that feeling like a lightning bolt is shooting out the ends of your toes and people that have never experienced it don't get it at all.

I have found when it comes to back pain, meds don’t fix the issue. On two occasions in my life I have had significant back pain. I have personally had success with a chiropractor on both occasions.

For me, the key was physical therapy and a stretching regimen that my sadomasochist physical therapist gave me. Tight hamstrings from my desk job were pulling pelvis out of whack and causing nerve pain.

The therapist focused mostly on hamstrings, hip flexors, and the piriformis (small muscle inside pelvis/glute region). The therapist was also on me about not tucking my feet under my chair while working.
