Am I incorrect in thinking there was a "blarge" called in one of our road games this year again? I remember at the time thinking how crazy it was that it happened again with ISU involved.

yeah, it was a couple games ago ... I'm not remembering which one.

I've reffed with guys who use this philosophy all the time. They'll come up during a timeout and offer up some comment about "let's keep an eye on the foul count". It's stupid but everyone knows that refs even up the count. I'd say it's even more obvious and blatant in college than in high school. How often do you see the "push" call on the post player who has been using both hands in the back of the offensive post player all game, suddenly called when fouls get out-of-whack. Call it all game or don't call it at all.

I question a lot of calls I see on tv in my head, but I try to remain levelheaded about it. How many times have you reported something blatant that the crowd disagrees with? Different angles.

I agree, it is all about angles. My real beef with this started from watching every ISU home game from the first couple rows for about a 5-year period. When you're that close to the action, you can really see the inconsistency come into play when a crew is trying to appease a coach upset about the foul count. Keep in mind these calls were coming from the "cream of the crop" Big 12 refs, not some no-name doing our game against Siena. Since that experience, no one will ever convince me that those guys aren't trying to make sure things end up close to even, no matter how physical one team may be playing in comparison with the other.

Well, I just do HS and below so I can't speak for those guys. You would expect the best and the brightest move up to college and beyond ... but its like anything else, its who you know not what you know.
