Did anyone else think that the referees on saturday were just awful? I have noticed lately that refs have gone down hill and seem to be pretty blind. One play that i have in mind was saturday i think it was sutton. He went down to his knees with the ball because it was striped and the while holding the ball he stood up and they didnt call a travel. or when they called brackins for a travel, im sorry that was no travel if anything it was either a charge or a foul. what do you guys think?

Dont think this is some form of making excuses because its not, there were plenty of other reasons why we didnt win on saturday.
 
I like when the KSU player slid across the length of the paint with the ball and out of bounds, then called a timeout.
I agree, the refs were really bad. There was one who continued to call fouls when he was clearly out of position and the ref nearest it didn't.
 
Perhaps a ref could clarify this....

But I didn't know that a team could call a timeout during a pass while the ball was in mid-air?
 
how about the ksu flops...pathetic...every other time down the court i felt like there was a flop, isnt that the responsibility of the ref to notice those things?
 
I'd like to know why, everytime the refs miss an obvious travel, the other team drains a 3-pointer?
 
The refs were terrible on Saturday.

let me finish your question, why, everytime the refs miss an obvious travel, over the back call, or a moving screen the other team drains a 3-pointer? lol

Yeah, and every time we did the same thing it was a blocking foul. I don't care which way they want to call it the same way on both sides.

As a side note it seems that a lot of the games against the ranked opponents have been really lopsided for calls, and I'm not say that if they were called differently we would have won all or any of them. I think that we are falling back far enought in our team status that the refs may be developing a little blind eye to what the oppenant is doing and seeing everything we do wrong. In their mind we aren't supposed to beat anybody anymore. Just a thought.
 
I was really hoping Mac would get T'd up that game to make a point. Refs didn't cost us the game but there were a lot of calls or non-calls that were very questionable. KSU plays dirty on defense and I thought a lot of times Craig was just getting mugged trying to get position.
 
Yeah, the refs were bad. But I think it was on both sides too. I can remember an obvious travel by Scotty, and the guy next to me says "I think everybody here but the ref saw that one". But the fall down, get back up and don't call a travel was the worst.
 
college refs have allowed the game to degenerate into a medieval gladiator battle. When kids are young they are taught to use their feet to play defense, but if you watch a college game today every single player grabs and hand checks to stay with their player defensively. It's got to the point where when they do try to clean it up you end up having a game like we did against North Dakota and there's 85 fouls and it takes 3 and half hours to play.
 
I think the whole "blame the refs" excuse is getting very old. Fact of the matter is we were not the better team. Good teams win no matter who the refs are.

I never saw a replay, but I didn't think his pivot foot moved on that. The one right after the goaltend where he went sliding across the floor and OOB was ridiculous.

well if you read what the initial post was you would know that i am not blaming the refs. I am just saying that they have been getting worse and worse...like i said there were plenty of other reasons why we lost on saturday
 
3 out-of-shape non-athletes trying to keep up with 10 in-shape athletes = a recipe for disaster.
 
They were pretty bad. Not as bad as most of the refs the WBB team gets. I've seen plenty of times where they can't figure out what happened or who knocked the ball out of bounds and they call a jump ball. That shouldn't happen over and over.

FYI, Below are the fouls called per team in games against ranked opponents.

K-State 24, I-State 23
Baylor 13, I-State 12
Kansas 20, I-State 14
Texas 20, I-State 18
Duke 19, I-State 17
Cal 17, I-State 14
UNI 14, I-State 14

And consider that in several of these games, the Cyclones were fouling late to stop the clock and they still were called for less fouls. The officials have had little to no impact on anything IMO.
