RV Village - Assignments

I wouldn't call it ******** and complaining as much as maybe more confusion and un answered questions.

It will all get figure out this weekend, drinks will flow, and fun will be had by all.
In multiple threads there has been a TON of b!tching and complaining...

Just got this. Better make sure you have a back up for power just in case. Somewhat of a bummer if they do not have that part up and running.

We are excited to welcome you to the new Cyclone RV village this weekend for our opening football game against Southeast Missouri State. The purpose of this email is to share a few updates with you to help enhance your new RV experience at Jack Trice Stadium.

  • The RV village will open on Friday at 8 a.m. Members of our staff will be available to assist you throughout the day as you load your RVs into the park.
  • On Friday night, “The Bus” (FM 100.3) will be hosting a radio remote from 5-8 p.m. at the entrance to the RV village. We encourage you to stop by their live broadcast and say hello.
  • Coach Fennelly, Coach Otzelberger, and I will be touring the RV lots in a golf cart, handing out refreshments, on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.
  • Unfortunately, we learned over the weekend that the general contractor experienced supply chain delivery challenges delaying the installation of the electrical switchgears. The switchgears are essential to running the permanent electric. The contractor hopes to install the switchgears this week. However, in order to prevent electrical disruptions, we will have multiple industrial generators and electricians onsite to help provide as much redundancy and assistance as possible. We are also encouraging you to bring your own portable generator, if possible, to provide a second level of redundancy, should it be needed. We sincerely hope we do not need to utilize generators, but we wanted to communicate this information ahead of time so everyone can be as prepared as possible.
  • We fully anticipate the opening weekend will be a great success. However, we also expect there will be issues that arise throughout the weekend. Please know we will do our absolute best to resolve those issues as quickly as possible. We also encourage you to share any ideas you have, after experiencing opening weekend, so we can continue to provide an outstanding environment to each of you.

On behalf of our entire department, thank you for your continued generosity and support. I look forward to seeing you Friday night, and cheering on the Cyclones on Saturday!

Go Cyclones!

There have been a lot of trucks around the utility building in the RV Village this week. Perhaps that is what they have been working on.

I'm not going to fault them for this. There are tons of supply chain issues out there and we had to improvise on getting one project open because of electrical components supply issues. I'm never surprised anymore when a 3 week lead time item suddenly becomes a 9 week lead time item and then at 9 weeks it ends up taking another 3 weeks.

Oh yeah. I work in trucking and supply chain issues have been a nightmare for 2 years. It will be fine. I just want to tailgate!!!

Yeah. We had to completely redesign the temp electrical on my project. Stuff that in summer of 2021 was a 6-8 week lead time has turned into 6-8 month lead times, and some of the components end up having lead times over a year!

It sounds like they are at least trying to fix the problem with generators, but that's an entire other nightmare.

Putting this many RVs, this much money, and booze in a confined area.... what could possibly happen?

I owned a 42 foot RV circa 2001 and took it to Iowa Shitt* for the game we won. Arrived Friday night and left Sunday around 3 a.m. What a trip!!

Watch out for this… heard Ames PD will have drug dogs down there on Friday/Saturday.
I find this hard to believe. Can just picture German Shepards weaving between RV units and the Iowa State administration standing there approving of this. I call BS

Over flowing porta potties....

Drove by today and there's two porta potties on each end of each RV row. Short rows on north end may have only had two total. So 40-44 porta potties for that party zone. Hope that's enough for you all.

Well, they do bring their own bathrooms with them.
