What are everyone's thoughts on the "no leaving the RV Village on Saturday mornings"?

To me it is frustrating. I live in Ankeny where it you sign your kids up for activities thru the city they hold everything on Saturday. I have driven the lane going to G7/Haunted Forest and it is wide enough for 2 vehicles to go side by side. It just would be nice to be able to leave.

My brother in law and I got 2 spots on the same 110' pad, so we will have some figuring to do.

Did anyone get spot 800? We got 801, 802 and 804.

We got 900 and 901, so we are neighbors.

Could it be even numbers are drive in and odd numbers are back in?

Mine is an even number.

I see the post above states they are both on the rh side so both would be drive in

It has nothing to do with even/odd. It has to do with who gets there first. According to the traffic signs that are already posted, most RV's (those beyond the 200's or 300's) will be directed along the fence by Coldwater. I'm assuming they will be able to pull into a lane going westbound and pull through or back up. Or they can circle all the way around in order to enter a lane eastbound, again to pull through or back up, depending on whether someone else is already on the other half of the pad.

Based on your previous post, your picture shows the grass area arrow going to the right. And you mentioned the one on the opposite side of the pad was going the opposite direction, which when facing would be the grass area to the right for them. Is that correct?

If that is correct, then if you share a pad with someone, you tailgate diagonal to them. And both sides are intended to drive in.

Yes, if you share a pad, I think you face opposite directions for your grassy area. It is part of why we got 900 and 901, not 901 and 902.

It's pretty standard that the electrical service connection to the RV is on the driver side and towards the rear. At least that is the case for most motorhomes and, I believe, most 5th wheels and trailers. Most campgrounds are designed that way.

That would mean that in this case, you would back in to your pad. If you pulled in you would have to have a very long electrical service cord to reach your electrical outlet (I have done that a couple of times in state parks).

That's the typical situation if the RV Village was designed in a standard fashion by someone who knows how to design an RV campground and operated by someone who knows how it was designed.

Yes..this is exactly right. The spot numbers on the electrical boxes have an arrow pointing to the left. If they are going to have you pull in and use the grass to the right of your pad, this is COMPLETELY backwards of any standard "RV spot".
I sent an email to Cyclone club to see if they have any clarification but if they are going to have us pull in and back out, it makes no sense....

In all standard RV spots (both for back-in and pull-through) the utilities are on the driver's side of the RV towards the rear and the entrance to the RV is on the passenger side of the RV and usually towards the front of the RV. Thus the "patio" or "grassy" side of the RV spot is on the passenger side of the RV.

However, it should be noted that the RV Village is designed for short term tailgating only. It will be used only 6-7 times per year and then only for 2 days at a time, whereas most public and private RV parks are designed for continuous, long-term use if not year-around use. Thus the RV Village was designed for economy and flexibility even though it means that there will be some inconvenience in using electrical connections and grassy areas.

Availability of electrical is the biggest asset of the Village and that alone will make the RV tailgating experience nothing short of phenomenal. GO CYCLONES! and have FUN!

Not exactly sure.
If it rains heavy on friday, I may need to venture down to see how this works out. As someone who parked in G7 for a while, I always knew to have four wheel drive as it was a probable mud hole.

I called and spoke to the Cyclone Club over a month ago to ask about pull in or back in to spots.. they designed it that all spots are Drive in /pull in spots. I mentioned that most campgrounds design the pads to be backed in to.....(crickets on the phone)..... you pull in to your spot and your designated grass is to the right or passenger side.

This is silly IMO. I hope people realize they are going to need long extensions for their RV cords to reach the power poles.

Just purchased spot 530. Bringing the family down for our first camping trip. Apologies upfront as we won't have a clue what we are doing and would be very great full for any advice from seasoned campers. Again, sorry if we add to the cluster.
429 here. Feel free to stop by with any questions. I will be more than happy to help out anyway I can.

This has to be a joke, or no one on the phone knew the answer. IT would be the only RV park set up this way.

Here is what I just got from the Cyclone Club:

"We aren’t going to dictate how each pass holder uses their stall, each can choose to either pull straight in or back in. We believe most will find it most convenient to pull straight in to the stall, however someone can back in if they would rather. Each stall has the 55 feet to park in, and the grass space and electrical pedestal have been predetermined to avoid any confusion."

This may come down to some "gentlemanly agreements" among tailgaters to switch things up to make more sense.

He might get an ear full of complaints depending on how this parking situation goes.
That may be true, we'll have to see. However, overall the tailgating experience there will be tremendous. It's a huge upgrade from the RV tailgating that we had before. The atmosphere will be electric, the facilities for the RVers will be fantastic with electric being available as a huge game changer. It will be a smash hit.

I do believe that the hookups/parking situation will be worked out between the tailgaters, regardless of the awkwardness of the design. GO CYCLONES!

PS-The larger RV's should probably use a surge protector on the electrical service post. It's always a good idea where ever you are camped.

With all of the b!tching and complaining you would think that the RV lot got moved over to KMart...
