Rushing the Field

Rushing the field always looked fun to me. It's still something to see the pictures from OK State last year.

I get what people say about image, but honestly, don't care. If it's an emotional win, and probably will be given the team's history with KState, then why the hell not?

Part of the reason I really love the team is because the fans still have fun.
 
We should rush the field the minute KSU arrives in Ames, that's something that only happens about one or twice a decade.

I've read only a few responses, so forgive me for any redundancies.

Nothing wrong with a field-storming, as long as it's spontaneous. Last season's stormings vs. Iowa & OSU were completely within reason: Both games were decided in multi-OT; one vs. rival ISU hadn't beaten in four seasons; the other unprecedented top-5 upset ... and each game involved rallies in regulation. Collective pent-up emotion — explode.

If Iowa State happens to beat K-State in similar fashion this weekend — I pretty much expect the stands to empty.

If ISU would happen to do it in a fairly routine fashion (let's say something like the TCU win), there could be some general running amok.

The "act like you've been there" clause is proportional to how often you've actually "been there."
 
I have nothing against field storming. What's wrong with a school's fans celebrating the win on the field with the team. The only programs that consistently have a problem with it are those that are A)extremely arrogant or B) butt-hurt that theyve lost and had a game where their opponent rushed the field. If a school's fans want to rush the field, then go for it.

This would be one of the bigger wins in school history. Beating a top 5 team while finally ranked (something we've not been able to say very often). This is one of the biggest games in the history of cyclone athletics. If we win, we should ******* celebrate.
 
I vote No, unless its on a game winning play or OT.

Since my opinion matters most, I hope you all take note.
 
Close game, sure. If something weird happens and we win by more than one score, probably not.

Schedule poster still makes me smile every time I look at it.
 
no, you don't rush the field against k-state. I don't care if they are top 5 or 6 or whatever theyre ranked. unless its the biggest win in school history you dont rush the field against a school you have a winning record against.

Do you always rank teams by how good they were 50 years ago? You must not have a lot of fun as an ISU fan then. The past is the past. If you storm, you storm because not only are we now going to barely be ranked in one poll, we are going to be top 15 in both polls with a shot at a special season and it just happened and 57k people are in jubilation about it. Not because Kstate sucked more or less than us when we wore leather helmets.
 
My opinion is no last year against ok st we were 28 point underdogs. Any sane person thought we were going to get run out of the stadium that night. It was so monumental that a field storm was required. as of now we're 7 point dogs to kstate. i don't think it's worthy of a field storm. same as the victory against baylor last year. i went into that game expecting to beat them. for ****** sake we were the higher seed in the big 12 tourney and people still stormed the court. this is a very winnable game.

Ohio State did not attempt a pass in the 4th quarter. It appears that your "black shirts" could not stop the run. Your right, next time Urban should call a punt play on first down in the 4th quarter if OSU is winning.

First the injury thread and now this . There must be a culture change going on in Ames because for the first 25 years of my Cyclone life - what I like to refer to as 1983-2008 BC PR (Before Coach Paul Rhoads) - you never, ever, under any circumstance talked about a lack of injuries or a post-game celebration before the game was even played.

I'm sure someone started a "we haven't missed a big field goal in awhile" thread before the Missouri game that would have won us the Big 12 North, too. It's Jinx City, my friends. I do like the confidence ISU fans have shown over the past few years though, expecting to win big games like Saturday's against TCU and this Saturday's against Purple Kansas.

I saw don't rush. KSU is #5, but we are showing we can hang/beat any team. I think not rushing makes a better statement.
 
I normally don't care either way but if we get all the rain predicted and the game damages the field the last thing it needs is several thousand people on it.

no reason to build a display case for your Pulitzer just because your letter to the editor got published in the local paper.....

If we do beat K-State, a solid case could be made that it would be the biggest win in school history. At the very least, second biggest.

I don't think there is any chance the field wouldn't be rushed if we win. And we should rush. We've been playing football for over 100 years and we've only beat one top five team before.
