Royals

I don't follow AL baseball much but what bad moves has Yost made vs. their young "stars" not hitting the ball?

Pitching hasn't been a problem, scoring has. Is the manager supposed to hit for these guys?

Yost has made some bad moves at times with the pitching staff and the lineup. But really, when you score 0-2 runs each game, there isn't much a manager can do.

Their hitters hit homeruns better in warmer and drier air. They are warning track hitters and need 80 degree weather to hit them out.

We just spent a week in Oakland and LA... I think the only guy who hit one out is the ancient Miguel Tejada.

According to that article, he's the only Royal to hit one out in the past two weeks.

I agree...It's mostly the players, and it almost always is in these cases. Most of my problems with Yost have been moves he's made in previous years, and his continual decisions to play 1-2 year contract vets over young guys who could have a future (when the team clearly isn't ready to compete).

He also lacks critical thinking skills. He makes decisions for crazy reasons. I avoid reading his comments to the media so the analytical engineer in me isn't infuriated.

So...in short...I've wanted him gone for awhile and now smell blood in the water. I've wanted GMDM gone longer, and hope he doesn't get to make his 3rd manager hire.

Might as well keep working up the chain and get rid of David Glass, too.

I think Glass has been improving. Dayton Moore finally convinced Glass the Royals had a chance to win this year, and Glass allowed him to bump the payroll up to $80 million, which isn't anything special, but around #20 in MLB.

The problem is they have Francouer making $7 million, and Hochevar and Chen making $5 million. Santana making $13 million probably won't be worth it, and these were all deals the Royals made early in the offseason before they could realize the market just wasn't there. Just bad moves with the extra payroll they were allowed.

What's Hochevar's situation? Hard to believe he got $5m through arbitration when he's pitched as terribly as he has...but it's even harder to believe that the club would lock him up for that amount for the very same reasons. Or are you lumping Chen and him together in that $5m figure?

After Yost stuck with Crow tonight for WAY too long, he should be gone NOW. I was freaking out when he stuck with him with 1 run in, 2 on and only one out (and the Royals still up by 1). But then he continued to stick with him after the Cards tied it. Unbelievable! But Yost has done this repeatedly over the last few years, giving up games that they should have won. I want him GONE!

Yost cannot manage a bullpen to save his life! I don't know how many times I have seen him bring in a pitcher with the bases loaded and he pulls him when he lets up a single to the outfield scoring two runs but he will leave a pitcher in when he gives up 10 runs in 2 innings.

How can Royals fans possibly get ****** when there team sucks? You have the lowest budget in baseball. You are never going to be good this era.

You might want to check the numbers there skippy. The Pirates, Rays, Indians, A's, and Rockies all have payrolls lower than KCs and they all have records over .500 right now. The Royals aren't bad because their budget is low; they are bad because the organization is run by a bunch of poo flinging monkeys. Royals fans are fed up with the poo flinging and are ready to see somebody who has a freakin' clue call the shots.

Last night was just awful. The classic snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the bottom of the 8th inning. Painful.

I love interleague play but probably not near as much as Cardinals fans. They've got to love having the Royals on their schedule every year.

1. You could substitute Iowa State and make the same argument. Does that stop you from being a passionate fan? 2. That was an excuse 5 years ago. But they've developed young talent and were a very popular pick to win the division/get a wildcard spot this year. This is supposed to be the year where all of that waiting was going to pay off.

I don't blame Royals fans for being upset, this is their window. And for the past 3 weeks, they've completely **** the bed.

Because we actually know what we are talking about....

There are several teams with lower budgets who are winning.

It's his last year of arbitration, and I think he got $4.7 million, which isn't unreasonable for a ******, but relatively high-innings starting pitcher in their last year of arbitration. Rather than non-tender one of GMDM's 1st draft picks, they decided to pay him a starter's price in arbitration, and then make him a reliever (which is amazingly stupid for a low-budget team with a decent bullpen). If he was starting and could give them 150+ innings as a 4th-5th starter, I'd be okay with the $5 million, but to tender him when he was pretty clearly headed to the bullpen is pretty ridiculous. The money could've been better spent elsewhere.

Chen is also making $5+ million this year, in the 2nd year of a 2-year deal. The Royals have a penchant for pulling guys off the scrap heap, and then giving them 2 year deals after they give the Royals one good year (when there is very minimal demand for their services otherwise). There was NO reason to expect that Chen or Francouer would continue to perform at that level for 2 years considering they had yet to perform well for over one year at a time since they made it to majors.

They've been running the team on sentiment and Jesus-riding dinosaur logic for years and have to go.
