Ned Yost needs to go. Why have a low to medium manager when you have all that young talent? Go out and get Pete Rose or Mark McGuire to manage them for heavens sake.

They should fire Yost right now, and fire GMDM if they aren't at 85 wins by the end of the year. The Shields trade should be considered GMDM's last stand, and if they don't reach .500 with him, I think you have to say it was a GMDM's window of opportunity is over.

Why it was silly for them to make the moves they did this offseason, trading for slightly above average immediate impact players when you won 70 games the previous year is dumb.

While I do share the same thoughts as everybody else in the fact that Ned Yost and possibly even Dayton Moore need to be fired, that is not the root of the problem. If the Royals do fire Yost, history shows that the Royals will probably win at least 13 of their next 20 when a new manager is brought in.

However, the ultimate issue is David Glass. He does not care about the team that he owns, never has, never will. He has done nothing but hurt the franchise since he took over and it doesn't matter if they fire Yost and Moore, the Royals will not get to be a respectable team until Glass sells the team to someone who cares and wants to build a winning franchise.

I don't follow AL baseball much but what bad moves has Yost made vs. their young "stars" not hitting the ball?

Pitching hasn't been a problem, scoring has. Is the manager supposed to hit for these guys?

Some quick research:

Moustakas - .178
Francoeur - .217
Escobar - .249
Hosmer - .263
Butler - .269
Getz - .210

You can't have 5 guys in your lineup hitting below .270 and expect to win many games.

The Nats and A's seem to be doing alright.

Actually, the Royals have one of the better BAs in baseball, as a team. However, that's only part of the story (and why BA alone isn't a good metric). The Royals also strike out, a lot (and similarly, don't draw many walks), and they haven't hit for power well.

They are just in a terrible spiral right now, just can't score or hit anything but singles. The pitching has been pretty decent, but it wears on them thinking they have to pitch a shut out to win. Hosmer and Moose have regressed instead of getting better which is a real killer. Really need a 2nd baseman and an outfielder that can get on base, especially with some extra base hits.

No, the manager is not the one hitting for the players so it is partially their fault. It is the manager's responsibility to motivate the players and help them get their confidence, Yost has not done that. Just watching the games you can see that the players have just given up. The manager needs to let the players try to work through a slump but you can only let that go on for so long before you need to step in and send them down to AAA so they can work through the issues.

Yost also constantly keeps starting players that he should not be. He keeps starting Moustakas and Francoeur despite the fact that they have two of the worst averages on the team. With the offense being the issue, you can't start guys like that and just hope that they snap out of it.

Royals should have unloaded Soria during the 2010 season.

They need to send Moose to AAA. He is lost as far as hitting. They either need to fire the hitting coach or fire the hitting coach and Yost. If you've followed the royals as much as I have, this team has the most talent and potential as any in many years. They just look lost now and need the jolt of a firing and/or players sent down.

Their hitters hit homeruns better in warmer and drier air. They are warning track hitters and need 80 degree weather to hit them out.

In fact, opponents have hit nearly three times as many home runs (32-11) this season at Kauffman Stadium as the Royals.

These past 3 weeks have been just plain painful to watch. Wow is our lineup bad. Gordon, Butler, Cain, Perez, and Escy are the only big league level hitters (and Butler and Escobar are having down years and Cain and Perez are down power-wise).

Hosmer is a 6-4 230 lbers who slaps singles at this point. Moustakas can't even hit .200. And Francoeur is just plain the worst position player in baseball. Getz is absolutely worthless at 2B as well, he is a defensive specialist who is below average defensively. Oh, and nobody walks.

Do you guys know that the Cubs pitchers have hit more HRs in the last 3 weeks than the Royals entire team? Just awful to watch at this point. Boy, firing Kevin Seitzer sure worked out, didn't it?
