Round of 32 Thread

NC State over Villanova is not even close to as big of an upset as UAB was over ISU IMO.

You may be correct. Seed-difference is one aspect, which would give the nod to UAB ... only "balance" on that would be that a 1 seed is expected to go at least four rounds, a 3 only 2. But other things in favor of your argument:

1. Possibly over-seeded team in bracket placement. Villanova may have deserved a 1, but maybe not in the second overall position.
2. N.C. State at an 8 from a power conference (and one with a lot of power at the top) and NC State was a big win/bad loss type of team. If the upset came from a high-mid like San Diego State or VCU, that might "feel" more surprising.
3. UAB was auto-qualifier from a one-bid league. There were I think four teams w/ 12-6 records, and UAB got to host the tournament. But ISU was second in a 7-bid league and also won its conference tournament.

Sigh...

It's not over yet, but Virginia is such a one dimensional team. If a team is knocking down shots, Virginia is screwed because they can't keep up with anyone in a shootout.

MSU playing like men. So typical for them this time of the year. Izzo just consistently gets it done. As much as I hate giving him credit I have to. The guy is an outstanding coach. Few teams improve throughout the season like his usually do.

UVA has 13 points with 6 minutes remaining.....

That's probably typical for them. As Colin Cowherd has been saying all week, Virginia is just awful basketball.

That's why I didn't fear an ISU-Virginia matchup in the tourney if we would have had to face them. I just don't think they could keep up with us offensively at all.

Izzo ball is like the NBA. Men doing what they need to do in the regular season to make the postseason, then battling like bad ***** come March.

Notice how thick most of the teams that consistently make runs are. Come tournament time you have to be a little nervous to be a team that can only out-skill teams. Skill advantages are often muscled out this time of year IMO.
