"The team with the personnel best fitted to beat Kentucky is Iowa State and my wish would be for these two to match up in a regional final" *Paraphrased, but close**

I might sound like a homer here, but does anyone else think 3 of our players would start for Kentucky. Monte is a better pure point than anyone they have. Bryce is better than either harrison. Niang has to start over somebody.

I can see where you coming from since UK's only extreme standout is Stein. Their a team full of really good players. No stars. Still an incredibly bold thing to say about the best team to come through college bball in a while.

Might be bold but I don't think I'm out of line.

Duke has 9 also....
Think about this. Iowa State in its entire Bb history has 11% as many Mickey Ds as those two teams each have on their rosters right now.

ISU has a long way to go to ever be considered a blue blood. Luckily it has the right coach to get them there.

We would have to play almost the whole game lke the start of the second half against Iowa and they would have to play like us versus Maryland. So it's possible.

I was going to say like the first half of Arkansas, because really the second half against Iowa was a lot about Iowa playing terrible, and can't count on that, but I get the idea.

If that game took place in the final 4, I'd be alright with that. It would truely be a no lose situation for us.

Like Rothstein and appreciate the pub. That said, the ****? I want some of whatever he's smoking.

Make it so, make it so, make it so.

This will never happen.

We wouldn't have to play a perfect game to beat Kentucky, since that's simply impossible.
I agree with him that we're the best matchup against Kentucky. As long as we didn't break mentally under their initial onslaught, we can win that game.

I have been having similar thoughts and I don't think ISU is more talented but the skill sets that the Cyclone team has could give the Wildcats problems. Basically, ISU perimeter strength vs UK post strength contrast in styles. ISU would need to out score UK by hitting outside shots (which ISU is set up to do better than most teams).

Kentucky strength front court play ad wins with terrific low post defense, depth (wave of bench McD's AA), and rebounding due to post size. ISU can counter each with good perimeter play (3 pt shooting both guards and post players and pick and roles to get their post moving and out of the paint), transition offense (scoring before the set their D) and now with McKay can legitimately go 8-9 deep with legitimate Power 5 players.

I could see a couple likely scenarios where ISU pulls off the upset.

I think we would have represented the big xii much better than KU and maybe even Texas. Their length is the biggest problem, and how that would affect Niang's effectiveness. But yeah, if we catch UK on an off night, it wouldn't surprise me at all if we were to beat them with the shooters we have.

I would think Texas is the team that is best suited to beat Ky They gave them a heck of a game in Lexington without their best player on the floor(Taylor)
