There's a ton of different animals that a human has no chance against if provoked.

For real, Kangaroos are total ass holes. If we had them in Iowa, we would hate them with a passion.
More like the McCaffreys. But with way better hops.
I'd rather walk through a parking lot with the risk of getting punked by a kangaroo than hearing that 'Go Hoks!' for no reason.

I would guess that people educated in kangaroo behavior could spot the warning signs (the main one of which is probably that they're horny and out looking for ladies).
Guy probably thought he was going to be simply kicking a little mouse's @$$ to impress his kid...oops.
