Dekkers seemed fine between the 20s, but was god awful inside the 20. However He's probably the only ISU QB ever to lead a 99 TD drive the hawks, so there's that. Had a 1K yard received as well. I figured he's mature in year 2, but we never got to see it.

Dekkers's perceived demeanor in that game last week didn't tell me he's matured much.

Maybe fine between the 20s but not between the ears.

If CMC can find another Noel/Higgins and Rocco keeps eliminating what few flaws he has, he could be a Rd 1. As a sophomore he’s ahead of Purdy. Doesn’t do the turnover thing & is able to get yards with his legs or QB sneaks. Remember when they’d have Purdy at shotgun instead of over center on the goal line? I know it doesn’t make sense but I think Rocco is going to be better than Purdy if the receiver talent is on campus. The Clanton hire is helping too.
He showed yesterday that he’s good enough to make his receivers better. We need some dudes, but a handful of above average guys will do just fine

The "system qb" thing seems real.
Brock landed well (beyond well)
Rocco needs something system- similar, imo.
Sidenote. Sam Darnold. Failed in SF, THRIVING with the Vikes.

Interesting to see Darnold play so well for the Vikings while he never even seemed to threaten Purdy for playing time.

We were really lucky Dekkers got caught gambling. Our program would likely not be where it is now because Rocco likely wouldn’t have got his chance. Crazy how things worked out for the best.

Have we ever had a better QB to finish a game when trailing late? Did it against TT as well but D couldn't hold. And just a Sophomore. We are damn lucky he's here. And staying!
Agreed. We've got some pieces with Becht, Hansen, Sama (not going to forget about him just yet), Burkle, Brahmer, and even Alston showed some promise with Higgins no longer in there. Add the two new receivers with the development of the guys like Brown and we could be just as good if not better next year offensively if the line can take a small step forward.

Hope we can get a few defensive pieces on the D-line and secondary in the portal, but regardless, to the OP's point, Rocco is truly a gamer and is so accurate and elusive when he needs to be. Fun to have him and have promise for next year as well.

Hope they can finish portal season strong and add a few players and we might have a decent shot at it with hopefully a top 25 ranking coming into the season.

I would have loved to see what Brock was capable of if we consistently ran plays that had him throwing past the sticks. We’ve still got that chance with Rocco.

My Christmas wish for the offense is to get to a point where we can be multiple with the same personnel on the field. I think this could provide us with a couple of key advantages.

1. We could go jet tempo more often while subbing less.
2. It would be more difficult for defenses to key / hedge on what we were doing offensively. I am all for being multiple, but it is pretty easy to call out what we are trying to do (run/pass) based on personnel in the game.
