YesIf you haven't seen it I highly recommend his film biography "Val". Its on Prime and has a ton of footage from his childhood as he was a film nut his whole life.
Another in that same vein is The Last Movie Star with Burt Reynolds. His last film was Top Gun: Maverick.
It's not often an actor has a chance to eulogize their most famous character in their last film in a way that works on a meta/thematic level as eulogizing themselves. Admiral Kazansky and his scene and funeral gave way more emotional weight to a movie about flying badass fighter jets ever had the right to have.
The only other one I can think of in a similar vein was John Wayne in The Shootist.
RIP Iceman
Real Genius was one of the most underrated movies of the 80s IMO. I have two of the tshirts Kilmer's character wears in that movie. And Michelle Meyrink? And Deborah Foreman? And the final popcorn scene with Tears for Fears and 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World'?
So f*cking good.
Tried to get my wife to watch it. She didn't get it.
This might be one of the top five pieces of cinema ever filmed:
