Richard Amardi's eligibility status

Let's also remember it takes time for bigs to develop, and he just completed his sophomore year. Granted I wanted to see more out of him last year but, there wasn't a ton of minutes available due to the play of Ejim and Niang. Honestly, with the addition of Amardi this year we may not see him on the floor a lot next year either.
(unless the rumor that Ejim moves the 3 is true.)

i smell disappointment in this threads future.
Can you expand on this? In the other thread you commented that it was obvious who CycloneVet was referring to when he said a Juco won't be making it. This is leading me to believe that Amardi might be the odd man out. That would suck

Well I hope he gets that extra year. Hoping he gives us the stability and presence underneath that Booker and Gibson could not/have not yet bring/brought consistently.

Don't think you can apply for the exception to the 5 year rule until after the 5 years is up. So the request for exception can't be filed until next April.

Reminds me of how little Martin Rancik and Paul Shirley were used on the Elite 8 squad in '99-'00. Pales in comparison to how heavily they were used the following season. That lineup had Fizer and then 4 guards under 6'4''. Unbelievable.

Shirley and Rancik were both injured for half of that year. That's why they didn't log as many minutes as one would expect. Imagine how good that team would have been had they both stayed healthy. Also Stevie Johnson was 6'4, but he was a forward through and through.

If it is so obvious that Amardi is not going to show up then what is the delay in announcing he won't be joining the team next year? There is no advantage to be gained, so why not just let people know? Why announce his number several weeks ago? Whats the point of playing games?

I don't see Melvin playing the 3 much at all with how short our team will be next year.

I'm not sure. It seems that Edozie and Bluford are good to go, and maybe some people know Hogue is good to go...plus...TheArchitect seems to know what he's talking about. Amardi is obviously the most sketchy of all the JuCos regarding eligibility considering him being from Canada, and going to multiple schools.

If Amardi doesn't make it, I don't see how our defense can be any better than last year, and if our defense isn't better than last year, I don't see ISU being anything but a low bubble team.

Our frontcourt would be Ejim, Niang, Gibson, and Edozie. And maybe Hogue (small 4 like Ejim?). Not much post defense in that group.

They need to try him there, though. If they don't try to fit Melvin at the 3 and see how it goes, I don't see how the 2013-2014 team can be better than the 2012-2013 team. I think you have to at least try to improve at your weak points, defense and rebounding, and then hope the offense comes together.

The offense in 2013-2014 is not going to be better than 2012-2013. There just isn't the experience combined with talent there was last year. The defense and rebounding can improve, but I don't see that improving without Amardi/Gibson/Edozie making a difference, Ejim handling the ball well enough to play the 3 for a good chunk of minutes, or Hogue showing up ready to start in major college basketball. I think a lineup of Ejim, Niang, and our young guards is just a B-team version of last year's team, even if Niang competes for B12 player of the year like I think he will.

Clyburn was ISU's 2nd best rebounder last year. If you sub in a freshman guard for Clyburn, you pretty much need Ejim to put up Rodman or Barkley numbers.

Essentially, I can't imagine a team going smaller than last year's team and then being any better than last year's team. Last year's team was so good offensively, I don't think they can be beaten by the new talent ISU has coming in. And if you can't beat them on offense, you have to beat them with rebounding and defense, and if they go even smaller than last year, they won't beat last years' team on defense or reboudning. Clyburn was skinny, but he and Babb were both grown *** men and they rebounded and defended well.

Wait! Hold up, I thought this thread was concerning how armardi only played 2 years of college ball but is only eligible for this year. Now he isn't on the team??WHAT IS GOING ON???
