So I have looked and looked every where and can not find anywhere that explains why he has only 1 year of eligibility. He is a JC transfer, so I don't get how he can only have 1 year remaining, as they don't let you play through your JR year at community colleges. Did he originally sign somewhere else out of HS? Also, I know this isn't the first case of this happening at ISU. Marquis Gilstrap was a one year wonder also, but I don't remember the story behind that either.
It's his initial redshirt season that makes things difficult. He's a good example of why you don't redshirt too many young guys.
He redshirted his first year (2009-2010), so that started the 5 to play 4. He had one year where he played 42% of the games (2010-2011), and one year where he had visa trouble (2011-2012). If the NCAA doesn't give him any relief for the Visa trouble, then they won't give him a hardship because he played in 42% of his team's games in 2010-2011.
2009 - RS freshman
2010 - freshman who played less than half a season due to injuries
2011 - sophomore with visa troubles, didn't play
2012 - junior at IHCC
He's had a rough road, but if he had not RS his first year, and been a frosh in 2010, he would have 2 years, because he wouldn't be in a 6 years to play 4 years situation.
Apparently, he make not make it anyway, which sucks.
