Restaurants in Ames.

Wendy’s is short staffed and is drive thru only. Burger Kings closed on one days notice because they were trash. McDonald’s has ice in their drinks depending on the day. I also eat out too much.
Had lunch there yesterday and agree that the food was goodJust dined at Sweet Carolines. Food was very good, but what’s with Country music!

Think this is about current restaurants but no Ames restaurant thread is complete without an obligatory Gumby's pokey stix post.
The labor market seems fine. I went to the Ames Target over the lunch hour on Thursday and only one cashier lane was open. There were like 20 of us lined up for the self-checkout. Like I said, everything's fine.
Talking about Pokey Stix...last week I was in another town where there is still a Gumby's. I had been craving Pokey Stix for 20 years, since I last had them in Ames.
But this time it was just meh...
The taste hadn't changed. But I had built it up a bit too much in memory. I am now done with the legend of Pokey Stix.
Why would anyone eat at BK or Wendy’s when you could go to Freddy’s, B-Bops or Culver’s?
Bbops, Freddys, then Wendys. Culvers is meh.
Pizza Pit! This alumnus always takes his students there when passing through. They like it.
I think Wendy's still has the best burgers.... Bbops is close. Freddy's are not good IMO.... super salty.
Freddy’s is expensive and not that great,in my opinion.
I think Freddy’s burgers are better than the others I listed and close to the same price but their skinny fries suck. Five Guys is overpriced and I refuse to eat there especially when it’s right down the street from B-Bops.
5 guys is stupid expensive for what it is.

You know what the labor costs are to have five guys make one burger?
Those things should have come with a packet of wet wipes. A post Pokey stix deuce subquently required a shower almost every time.
You mean the place that use to store pans and cooking utensils on the floor of the bathroom?
Hmmm…. I tried calling their to order last Sunday and always got the busy signal. Wondering if they are facing the same labor shortage? I tried calling for around a half hour and ended up ordering from Papa John as it is 3 blocks from our house.
