Had a representative from Pure Light Power stop by my house today. Anyone have any experience with them? Good reviews/bad reviews?

My experience with Purelight.

Met with a guy and he was nice, knew his stuff and seemed to represent the company well. He was pushing financing through them and getting 1.9% financing or something like that. Told him I would pay it off in a couple years so made sure there was no early penalty. So he knew I was paying early.

Comes back with a quote that was quite high for a 30 panel, 11 kWh system. Thought it was high but hey the kid was nice.

Telling a friend about the quote and he said I should check around and his friend worked at 1Source Solar. Someone came out got the specs and said they’d give me a quote.

I called Purelight guy back and told him I was getting a quote from other company. He tells me that they would be giving me a cash quote so it doesn’t compare to their finance cost. I tell him to give me the cash price. He tells me a price that is $8,000 less than his original quote. So in order to get the 1.9% finance price, they wanted me to pay an extra $8k for the project to get the 1.9% interest option. I told Purelight to go pound sand but in a hell of a lot cruder way that wouldn’t be taken well here…

1SourceSolar added 1 more panel and there bid in october 2022 was $6,000 less than Purelight’s “cash” quote and they have been awesome to work with. Love the system and it has performed above expectations so happy. Sure it’s higher now tho

Cousin in small town Iowa just had his installation completed. Texted me he gathered 1034 kWh in the first 23 days. My bill last month was for 402 kWh (heating and not A/C season for that).

We had Purelight install our system last year.

Overall they were super to work with, might not have been the cheapest but the system is great, and they are higher quality panels with higher generation than some use, I know even my insurance company rates solar panels as only generating half as much as the ones used by purelight and probably some others.

The only issue I tell people to keep in mind, is when they give you the tax rebate number. Keep in mind you only get back what you pay in each year.

So in simplified terms say your rebate is going to be $12K, but you only have a $6K tax liability each year. You will only get that $6K rebate, per year, until you reach the full rebate amount. So in this scenario it would take 2 years to get that back. They dont exactly tell you that up front usually.

Again, I didnt shop around a lot, so there may for sure be cheaper options, but overall they were super great and easy to work with. In the long run, it will pay off though regardless so, I am satisfied.

Not exactly sure.

My panels are on 15 minute net metering. Meaning if I produce 5x the amount for 15 minutes and then a cloud covers them for the next 15 and produce nothing, I pay 12 cents a kW for the second 15 and they pay me 2.5 cents a kW for the over production the first 15.

We ended up going with Pure light and had the installation in February. It's been great so far. Production has been right in line with their projections. I spend way too much time on their app monitoring the day to day numbers. I'd definitely recommend them.
