Recruits stats and Senior performance

My thinking there was if Beverly can do it, then THT should be able to as well. About the same size but he has a longer wingspan, he's more athletic, better shot blocker and a bigger mismatch on offense. I just hope at some point Prohm is willing to start Lard and Young because our best lineup would be Babb, Wigginton, Shayok, Lard and Young.

I think Prohm is willing, it just takes consistent play from Lard to be trusted to stay out of foul trouble. I see progress on that front, but not enough given our thin bench for bigs.

LW will start. If anybody goes from starting to coming off the bench it's young. Easily. You wanna go off stats and what players give to the team, Cameron Lard has been much more valuable than Solomon so far.

I love Lard and the excitement he brings to the game. He is more electric on offense and I believe a better natural rebounder than Young. Having said both of those things, to say he has been more valuable to the team than Young this year seems ludicrous. So many of the things Young does aren’t as catchy as the rebounds and points that Lard brings, but Youngs picks on offense, his ability to body up opposing players without getting in constant foul trouble (see the Iowa game as an example of not letting Cook get to where he wanted to be), and even his help defense are all better and more consistent which is why he is on the floor more. His game is consistently there. Lard is hot and cold, bringing positives (ex. excitement running the break, blocks)and negatives (ex. More turnovers and fouls). As Lard gets more consistent, then you will see more minutes and potentially then your statement might come true...but not yet in my opinion. I will give you that I believe his ceiling is higher. It will be interesting next year when we add another banger in Jacobsen.

I can see THT getting a bit of time at the 4 should we go small ball next year, but I believe you are more likely to see Zion in that role. It will be interesting next year with more depth and added athleticism to see if we attempt to press more or at least pick up the ball higher on the court. But then again, what do I know, as I am still picking the crow out of my teeth for not having seen Babb as able to handle the point.

Adding to your statement, which I agree with... It's important to remember that Young is the younger of the two big men (and younger than Jacobson), and thus his game may still develop the most in terms of offense.

The one thing I would love to see Young work on are his hands. Lard is much better at catching passes to the post. Too many times Young looks surprised someone threw him the ball and he fumbles it.

Young is much better than Lard on defense and winning the position battle, but he has to learn to expect the ball and to catch it and do something with it. If he can do that he will become a much more valuable player.

I think you're sharing the crow roast with everyone else on this site, as well as Prohm. Have to give him credit for adapting so quickly.

So I was doing a little diggin on Zion and his stats, how people are writing about his play, etc. and there is one very clear thing, every team they play is focusing all of their effort on Zion on the Defensive end. Which is good, they're showing him respect, but it also does hurt his output a bit. So stats aren't always so eye-popping.

Reading about the tournament Hinsdale South is in, and about the Rolling Meadows team they played (first round I beilieve). There is a Freshman PG that is on that team, that seems to be right up Prohms alley. His name is Max Christie, he's a Frosh (so 2021 recruit) But he is already 6'4, and dropped 21 points against Hinsdale South. I did some more reading on him and it sounds like this kid is poised to be a bright star. I think DePaul has already offered. Didn't really know where to put this, but my ears always perk up when I hear of a promising young point-guard with not much buzz about em.

I was listening to Mark Titus’ podcast today and he was talking about his conspiracy theory that Tom Izzo creates adversity on purpose (notably that he colluded with Valentine to exaggerate an injury). I don’t think Prohm is at that level, but I don’t think Prohm necessarily adapted — it may have been his plan all along.

In the off-season Nick said multiple times he was working on his PG skills and Prohm said it as well. There were also a few of us on CF who thought Babb would play point, and even though we aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, we could even see it. I think Prohm knew Nick was the PG but let them try to work through things on their own a bit.

Is this a real discussion?

Are there people that really think there’s a chance that Wigginton comes off the bench next year?....lol

He’s the best FR we’ve had since Fizer.

Babb, Wigginton and Shayok are 100% locks to start next year.

Young and Lard are both like 90% likely to start.

More like a person. @FinalFourCy the Deanvogs of Cyclone basketball posters.

What AAU team does this kid run for?
