RECRUITING: Some Xavier Simpson info

It sounds like the following schools are now out: Xavier, Purdue & Indiana.

It's been reported for a while that he's visiting Miami and that a decision will come at the end of September.

It sounds like either Michigan State or Michigan will ultimately be a factor too.

My gut says that he ends up somewhere other than Iowa State BUT it is awfully encouraging that he's trimmed the list down this far and the Cyclones are still seriously in the mix.

This is what I was afraid of. Eventually the big boys strike out somewhere else and they come into the picture on the third/fourth tier (not five star or high four star rank) players like Simpson.

I like the part about no Indiana. Not so much about MSU or Michigan.

It seems like we get this type of player when they commit early and stay with ISU....not so much when they wait and the other programs strike out and come after them.

Lets hope he puts a priority on schools that offered earlier (even by a few weeks).

It will be highly important to get Jackson on board if Simpson is on the fence. That way you have a starter in the fold, and then if you add the highly talented FR, it's gravy.

The only thing I hold on to is how much his Dad seemed to like Prohm and Morris showing him around.

I think Xavier really liked his visit, and Prohm. I think he may not like that we're targeting Jackson and Strong. Taking a Juco PG might be our best move, but it may cause Simpson to look elsewhere.

I think Winston ends up up at MSU, Michigan wouldn't surprise me either though. But doesn't Michigan already have Walton at PG? Unless he's expected to go pro, I wouldn't think Simpson would want to come in behind him. But I guess we might have a similar situation with Monte however.
