RECRUITING: Known visitors for the weekend

The Brinson page has Iowa as one of his college choices.

I thought they pulled out of Florida to concentrate on locking down the Keokuk to Mt. Pleasant to Wellman corridor?

I've been hearing alot about this Syria guy. He has been all over the news lately. He must be good.

It might have something to do with last Saturday nights game. Martinez Syria rushed 11 times for 177 yards and 2 TDs. So far this season, Syria has rushed 28 times for 313 yards and 5 TDs. (His team has not done well from a win-loss standpoint. They play in Texas's largest class; so, the competition is pretty tough.)

It was more a joke on the situation in the country Syria, but good to hear he is doing well. Is it fair to say he is an offensive "weapon"?

If we get Syria, I'm sure he'll gas all of our opponents ... you know, wear them out?

(too soon?)

That pretty much fits my definition of what constitutes a "poor sense of humor". Not really funny......(or cute).

Think James White but like 220 lbs. Very good downhill back.

For some reason, I get the same feeling about Martinez Syria that I do with others the past few years that, at first, have low 'recruit ratings' at the beginning of the cycle/recruiting process and end up being one of the best of the recruiting class.

Think I recall comments from his HS coach (Syria's) that Iowa State is getting a 'Football Player'. Searched & found some highlights on Hudl already for this season:

Wow, look at all those diamonds in the rough. Because, you know, if it's a two-star and recruited by PR, it's just got to be. Which makes our current losing situation all the more baffling...

Prepare yourself the butt hurt is coming.

Those highlights are impressive. Good find!

My butt will be fine. The program's won't be when we suck and are forced to realize that we have a handful of skill players on offense and a myriad of two star defensive recruits performing like two star defensive recruits.

i agree with you.

It took 3 posts before you realized people were making Syria jokes, and you're calling out people for poor senses of humor?!

I think these would be great points if ISU had not just lost to UNI in Ames. Talent level is not a great argument right now. Plus, our 2-star studded defensive lineup played well enough the last couple of years to be at least a middling B12 defense.

Obviously, the talent isn't great. I don't expect much, but I do expect the D to fill gaps and get their grubby little 2-star hands on David Johnson.

Give it a week or two.

If ISU can't match Iowa or Tulsa talent-wise, then I will give you the argument. That's a little more than two weeks. Getting beaten by UNI really isn't a reason to argue talent considering they have less than ISU's meager talent.
