RECRUITING: A few notes on 2018 PG Tyler Harris

He is hearing there is a good chance that he commits on his visit.

Now there ya go again....stop it, quit teasing. All kidding aside, will wait til he steps foot on campus for good in June 2018. It's fine if you want to criticize me for being Chicken Little Charles, Gun Shy George, or Crystal Ballless Jerry.

If only we knew someone with those connections. Crazy thing about that group of players is they are all from different areas of the US too.
Payne - Tenn/"south"
Barnes - Iowa/Midwest
Niang - North East
Nader - Chicago

Canaan is from Biloxi, Mississippi, on the Gulf Coast. Payne is from Memphis.

While people don't like to read these sorts of things, it's true. Of course, that's not the case across the board, but it's getting pretty obnoxious at this point.
Who are basketball recruits under Prohm that have committed then de-committed or asked out of their LOI????

Who?

This isn't an ISU issue. It's a high school issue. Several kids have asked to get out of their LOI's. A number of them even later than McNeill.
Then what's the point in spending time worrying about it? Football this has always happened, I'm assuming the same for basketball, but it's just being broadcast more now with social media.

Idk, I just don't think worrying about it as a fan is worth it. It's like worrying about if Georges Niang is going to break his foot in the NCAA tournament in the second week of the season. Yeah, it's ****** as hell when it happens to your team, but that's part of the game, and everyone is playing it.

It rarely happens in the grand scheme of things and when it does, it's not often on the up and up.

a commitment, sure. But what happened with McNeill is an outlier situation
Not that big of an outlier. We were involved with 2 other kids that were released after signing too. Parker Stewart and Garrison Brooks. That's 3 guys we wlhad ties to that backed out of signed LOIs. Its not as uncommon as it should be.

Trying not to get my hopes up too much with the way things have gone lately, but damn this would be awesome if we got him.

Harris and Conditt would be a great start to this class. This may explain the quick commitment by Lathon, maybe he was told that Iowa State planned to pursue Harris even if he committed.

I doubt Lathon was influenced to go to NW due to vibes about Harris. He stated in his interview it came down to ISU and NW. NW was considered a slight favorite due to their current PG is a senior. Lathon has some height and could play combo guard. I feel the staff could have taken both.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lathon heading to NW could have Harris's decision as now he would have less competition for minutes early. The staff could have been showing a little more love sensing Lathon commitment not going their way over the past few weeks too.

As with any recruitment we should all hold off projecting rosters until Harris officially announces.
