RECRUITING: A few notes on 2018 PG Tyler Harris

People pay too much attention to who plays PG, SG, SF, PF and C. Just give me the 5 best dudes we have and put them on the court together.

One of our best teams had a 6'8 PF playing PG. If Wigginton is our best option at "PG" that's more than good enough for us. Having two playmakers on the floor together like Harris and Wigginton would just make everyone better.

I get your point, that it is about mismatches. However, if we have no one to bring the ball up under pressure that is an issue. If we have no one that can hit an outside shot, that is an issue. If we have no one that can defend the post, that is an issue. We need more than one great defensive rebounder - I get that it doesn't always have to be the center or traditional PF, as both Hogue and Ejim were excellent examples of very good rebounders. Thus, while actual position doesn't matter, skills do. When you say put our best 5 out there, that can be a recipe for getting whipped if we don't have some of the above skills sets met. Often when people are saying best five, they are talking offensive viewpoint only.

Maybe. But until Babb shows me something more I think it is possible he passes Babb.

He makes three awesome plays in a row here...

-- cleans up the trash on a fast break and goes strong to the rim for an and-one
-- collapses the defense on a drive and hits DJ for a wide open three, which he does not miss
-- steals the ball, tracks it down, and gets it to Bowie before the defense can reset

We see that guy more often and I imagine we will be pretty happy.

This would be a very solid get regardless of size and someone that would kickstart our recruiting for the class. Someone I want but after watching the video above I came away with 2 things:

1. Kid looks like he can dish.
2. The ball looks really big in his hands.

We can official start the Harris Watch.

@OnTheRadarHoops Iowa State is hosting 2018 Team Thad @DreamBigHurd guard Tyler Harris today for an unofficial visit

Tyler already has a very good handle and a good outside shot with range that will translate to the Big 12. As for concerns about Harris's height. Isaiah Thomas was an NBA MVP candidate at 5'9", Harris will be fine playing PG in the Big 12. Not to say he is IT, just that height isn't everything.

Harris is very crafty (how very Niang) around the rim. Watching his videos, you can see that he's very good with his left hand. When you're short like him, you need to be able to adjust on the fly when taking it to the rim.

Three 5'9 guys in the NBA presently, no one 5'8 or below, so he's just tall enough.
While the NBA is sport business, it is also just as much an entertainment business and there is entertainment value in having the little guy in the giant's world of pro basketball. Anything that can widen your audience ultimately helps your franchise.

Of course, the little guy still has to be able to ball....

ALTERNATE RESPONSE: Not 5'10" - do not want.

Not really on topic here, but damn...could watch this all day. Thank you.
