What highlight video are you watching that is blowing you away, if I may ask?

No highlght videos needed. A top 100 4 Star 6-9 Center with a decent offer list that CFH wants I think speaks for itself. Those dudes don't exactly grow on trees. Since when did we stop getting excited about Top 100 kids with their feet actually on our campus??? If true, count me out.

I'm excited that Fred offered a guy that he obviously likes. I was just disappointed in any video I saw. He was playing against guys 3+ inches shorter than him. He didn't seem overly athletic and didn't have much of an outside shot. Hopefully he commits and shines so that I can look back on how underimpressed I am and realize Fred is smarter (and slightly better looking) than me.

Looks like a kid that could be 6'10" and 260 by the time he is a freshman without even trying. At that size, just being aggressive and having good hands and touch will go far.

IMO he looks impressive for a true post at that age. I think a player like that (post) at 15 and 16 years-old you are not looking for the conventional highlights. Good hands and feet, nice shot, comfortable with back to the basket, aggressive, keeps the ball high, etc. For a big guy, he looks to have the range, handle, and passing to play in the high post, which is good emough range to open the court. 15 or 16 year-old (big),posts don't need to be McKay athletic or already proficient from 3P range.

I was under the impression that Fred is most interested in long athletic bigs but I wouldn't mind having a Cameron Ridley on the team.

We have only had one long, athletic big, and he has not even played yet.

I think Fred has proven he is most interested in having a talented team. I don't think we have seen him discriminate against any type of talented player, unless that player's role is already filled.

Not more than a year ago (or so) we were complaining about not having enough guys over 6'-8".

It didn't stop Fred from finding ways to beat teams with 5 guys who were 6'-2" to 6'-7", but it did limit the ways in which you can play. I think the recent focus on bigs (big ones) such as Tsalmpouris, Ellenson, Diallo, Dime, Benson, etc shows the understanding that these types of players are really important.

If they're weren't - UK, KU, UNC, L'ville wouldn't stock-pile them.

Scholarships are year to year, you can absolutely bank on it. Fred doesn't carry dead weight on the roster.

Bugs me to hear people call players that don't get much time "dead weight" on the roster. Have you never heard of the practice squad? Why do you think they have walkons on the team? When you have a rotation of 7 or 8 players, you still want and need others on the team. If they are all superstars and expect to play 15+ minutes, you end up with lots of transfers out. Percy left and seems to say nice things about ISU and stays in contact with his teammates. He didn't progress as a player as we would have liked to have seen, but that doesn't make him dead weight.
