I don't miss the days of doing that kind of exercise. I feel for ya. My exercise regime has changed so radically in the last year I won't ever go back to that. Keep it up, hope you find something to kill the time.
What do you do instead?

Looking for things to keep me occupied during ~50 minute low intensity steady state cardio. Something kind of engaging but not super involved or requires a ton of attention. Either TV series or podcast. Just finished up Season 2 of The Punisher for reference, which was great for that. Just push play and work out for the duration of the episode.

Prefer something where a whole season is available at once or has a big back catalog as I try to do cardio 4X/week. Waiting a week for new episodes won't really cut it. Already watched Reacher S1/S2, and will hit S3 when it's all out. All genres are on the table.
The Confused Breakfast Podcast
-Some guys from the Cedar Rapids area that review popular movies from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. Quite funny and nostalgic

A Short History of...
Historical podcast. Most episodes are in the 45-60 minute range. Tons of episodes. I usually just pick a subject that sounds interesting and go.

Quick Question with Soren and David
Pop culture podcast with two former writers for Cracked.com They now write for Last Week Tonight and American Dad. Very funny guys. Topics are all over the place, but it's very entertaining.

Recc for The Rest is History podcast. Someone else recc'd it in another thread and I have listened to a few hundred episodes. They do a lot of stuff that was like 2 sentences in your world history textbook, and you get some real detail and context on bigger events. The 2 guys tease each other a bit, some light British humor.

For a brief time, I had my stationary bike in front of my tv with the xbox. Got really good at Madden, but eventually got burnt out.

Good friend of mine has done this strategy with Skyrim. Every time his character runs, he runs/jogs. Very interesting way to do it. Would be cool if there was a way for the treadmill to automatically adjust elevation/terrain/speed etc, but I may just be dreaming there.

Love the idea, but would take way too much effort IMO

I also did the Madden/bike combo throughout high school and college. Worked great.

Sail the high seas and watch Haliburton and Niang play basketball. Haliburton is like 12:1 assist:turnover ratio past month. Just toying with defenders.

I just did 45 minutes of elliptical in my bedroom. I listen to a mix of workout music — rocky and the like — but I have a 120-gallon tank. Aquarium with six clown loaches, a Jack Dempsey, a convict cichlid, five silver dollars, three Bristlenose Plecostomus catfish, a vampire pleco, seven yellowhead African cichlids, a male red empress African hap, and a mated pair of krenbenzi. The dynamics are fascinating to watch.

Civ 6, because cities don't bomb themselves.

I actually think Five is more fun.

Six has more content and more "systems" but way less coherence and balance between them.

Five is simpler but I think more fun for having the right amount of complexity.

Audiobook
I finally broke down and begun to listen to audiobooks about 15 months ago and fell in love with them. Found some I love so much that I couldn't wait to go walking and listen to them. I've lost 70 pounds and am down to my high school weight in those 15 months and it's because I found books that I can't get enough of and only listen to them when I walk. Either outside, treadmill, indoor track, but it's always walking (knees are too arthritic for running anymore).
