Recent CyHawk Series Performance

Then I would hope our current players who are worth anything think the same, especially at Hilton? The Iowa game a must win? I'm sure they did under Orr, Floyd, Eustachy and Hoiberg.
To have our players claim "Iowa wanted it more. etc." is pathetic IMO. It's not like you have to "ration out" your effort throughout the season. And it's also a cop-out, as they really mean "if we had given 100% it would have been a different game." No, it means you're not willing to compete.

It wouldn't be the only game though.

In every era of success there has been interesting Cyhawk games but none that were must wins or season defining.

Honest question: Name one ISU coach that is better than the Iowa counterpart? (in the big four sports of football, M basketball, L Basketball and wrestling).

I know we make fun of Fran a lot...but his team at least has an identity and plays hard....can you say the same of Prohms teams?

Lately it’s been a rough go for us in the major sports in the rivalry, but saw Keith Murphy’s tweet last night and it was a little eye opening to see written out

What are people’s thoughts on this? What’s been the reason behind this? Outside of wrestling, I wouldn’t consider Iowa light years ahead of us in any of the major sports the past few years.

I'm far from a “we need to beat Iowa every year!!” guy, but you should beat your rival every so often. It’s just weird to me considering the past few years have been generally pretty solid for ISU Athletics, but we can’t get over this rivalry hump.

My thoughts are: we beat them in wrestling in this century? Didn’t know that.

Tornado Man ...thats the problem in a nutshell...Iowa does want it a helluva lot more than we do, in any given sport....The inability to compete aka win some ..lose some ...leads to fan complacency and the hiring and firing treadmill of coaches....dont believe me? Look at the football programs and that sez it all my friends...Iowa... two coaches since 1979...ISU... well hand me a calculator.....Money is the real problem they have it and we dont....

Since Niang's freshman year, I would say we have matched Iowa's intensity once, maybe twice in basketball.

Fred’s best team, the sweet 16 team, was behind the whole game against them.

we don’t match how into it they are. Jesus Christ they brought a guy in they were shutting down for the season to play last year. That is how important it is to them.

btw, is bohannon playing the rest of the year?

Upsets happen but Prohm has 4 NCAA tourney wins in his life and the highest seed is a 11. Those other coaches have shown they can win games too.

this is so dumb. And a ******** disingenuous argument.

The highest seed Fred ever beat here was a 6, and all those losses that people lose their minds over here were a Fred staple to get to an 8 and 10 seed his first two NCAA teams.

Larry never beat higher than a 6 either. UCLA

floyd beat Cincinnati that was a 3. So that was a good win.

Johnny beat a 2. The very pinnacle and gold standard at Iowa State.
