I was just curious to who would be getting these if they end up sending them out. Do you just have to be 18, do you have to have a job and pay federal taxes. Im a student but have a job. Would that mean that I would get one or do you have to make a certain income. I was just curious

I'm wondering if I will get one too, because my parents still claim me as a dependent. I, however, do pay taxes.

If your parents claim you as a dependent, they will get the $300 or whatever the dependent refund was figured to be.

Don't count your eggs before they are hatched is my best advice. I am going to act like I am not getting any money. If it shows up, it will be icing on the cake. If not, no harm done.

Coach?

I plan to buy a PS3 or an X-Box 360....it's money that needs to be spent right? Why not enjoy it?

My dad claimed me as dependent last year but is not going to this year and for taxes that he is filing this weekend for me. since i am not being claimed as dependent on taxes for this year would that mean I would get one or not?

I would think so. If not your dad should be a nice guy and give you part of the benefit he gets.

The way the Senate is playing around with this by the time they're done I think you'll just need to be inside the country's borders at the time of mailing, regardless of whether you're employed or unemployed, paid taxes or not, age, whether you're legally a citizen or illegally crossed the border. Heck, the way things are going, foreign tourists may qualify for these rebate checks when all is said and done...

yeah, the Senate isn't letting it flow through as was hoped for. By the time it is done with I think we'll each get a little bit of cash to buy a pizza and an even weaker economy

I'm planning on using mine for my trip to Jamaica this summer. That's not exactly what they had in mind for what to spend on huh...

I'm sure you'll be supporting the US economy in some way... how are you getting there? Probably an American flight.

I thought he was walking to the coast and then was going to build a boat out of refuse and row there.

Your actually sorta right it looks like, without the exaggeration over illegal immigrants and tourists.

Actually it seems the Senate is going to make it so those that work but don't make enough money to have to pay income tax will get one too, and they are still debating the top threshold level of the maximum amount you can make to get one. Considering this is supposed to be an economic stimulus package, it makes perfect sense to get it to the lower income workers who spend it immediately to stimulate the economy.

Just as long as I get my cash I don't care what people they give it to, I'd rather the gov't spent my money on American people rather than the other alternatives.
