When I scan the teams remaining in the tournament I see some like Oregon State, Arkansas, UCLA, USC, and I'll throw in Alabama too.

These are programs that 2 or 3 years ago I don't remember as being good at all, UCLA and Oregon St in particular, same as Arkansas.

It provides me hope that if we can just land 2-3 impact guys that can really score the ball like Tyrese Hunter and two more around him, this ship can get humming and off the rocks soon. Hope TJ can do that, I really really hope we start going back to Indian Hills CC to get guys like dustin hogue again. That place gets some quality talent some years. TJ needs to get back to a fred model of high school, juco, and transfers (prob less transfers now as the top 3 schools get all the good ones anymore)

Our best two players this coming season are going to have zero and very little college bball experience. That’s not optimal. If Hinson plays that would help.

Common theme with all those teams is they play hard and play defense. As soon as our coaches demand that, we will win. Even with Fred, we had to outscore teams. Hard to win 2, 3 games in a row against good teams having to outscore them.

It’s not a popular comment, but the outgoing transfers speak volumes.

2023 1st and 2nd rounds of the tournament are in Des Moines
2024 in Omaha

COTZ should build to put us at those sites. Going to likely compete with KU. But we should strive to be a top 4/5 seed and get priority to those sites
Still annoys me that the 2018-2019 team could have had Des Moines, Kansas City and Minneapolis in the postseason.

If TJ can get a few guys, it is not hopeless to turn a BB program around in a couple years. Just need to get the right mix of guys. Need a scorer, need a point guard, need a banger on the inside. One of the things that I will say about Prohm's last two teams, there was no one on those teams that you could count on to score under pressure, and make a 3 pointer in general.

With much of college basketball in a weird spot there's at least a chance that ISU can put together something decent compared to others.

Would be good to at least see an NITish team by year 2.

OP, you think you can just come in here with all your optimism and think that's going to fly??? This is Iowa State! We're not done picking apart the choice of coach by the AD yet! Save optimistic posts for at least a couple weeks yet!

“as of now”. We still have 4 open scholarships and are going after some good ones.

Obviously Prohm made the final 3 for several great transfers last year, hopefully TJ and Co can finish #1 on a few.

I would hope we can be good in 2-3 years. If not, it is Prohm v 2.0.
Prohm was handed a Ferrari and is leaving a used Ford Taurus. Give TJ a little time to right the ship. I was more concerned that CSP couldn’t retain/develop his own recruits. They would leave and/or fail to develop with few exceptions. I don’t understand why people are already burying Otz. CSP was terrible 3 out of the last 4 years.

+1 on the play hard and Defense!

I hope defense becomes a hallmark under Otz. I think it's an area he and his teams can improve on.

Fixed it for you.
