Well if nothing else they have to guard him which as opposing game plans evolve to do so other things will open up.

Heise can come back right? I think he could have a Chris Babb type year with more minutes.
As soon as Heise stopped playing hot potato with the ball and started making basketball moves to the hoop is when he started hitting shots and playing better. Standing in the corner and the first time you touch the ball you throw up a shot is about like showing up to the first tee box with no warm up expecting your drive to find the fairway. Chances are low.
Keshon would probably benefit from having less options once he drives off the high ball screen. Come around the screen and either drive to the hoop or come to a jump stop for a 10-12ft. If that's not there, turn around for a pass. Right now he comes around those screens and isn't committed to doing anything and that's what is getting him into trouble.

He can yes. The only players on this year's roster who are definitely out of eligibility are Chatfield and Gilbert. Jones is very likely out but not 100% certain yet with the JUCO/COVID thing.
Heise has been a completely different player since Milan came back. Up to 36.5% from 3 and 50% him the floor on the year now.
The coaches…. Who see him play at practice. I get that it’s a message board, but some on this board trashed this kid pretty bad. Iowa State fans like to think they are better than other fan bases, but they aren’t. They’ll eat their own just as fast.
He's second on the team (to Chatfield) in Effective FG% now as well, and third in 3FG%. He's also third in steal %
Thank goodness we didn’t bench him and Chat for the rest of the season like some were wanting to do. Both are playing well and are key players in our rotation.
I think that we saw glimpses of this in the noncon. Good defender and rebounder, good cutter and at driving to the hoop. Can hit open 3s. But man, he went through a stretch there where he was a flat out liability on offense. Like he couldn’t get rid of the ball quick enough. Zero confidence in his shot. I’ll admit that I wondered if he was a P5 player on the offensive end. Glad to see him turn it around.
I think it took Nate awhile to adjust to this level of play. It took Curtis Jones quite awhile as well last season.. He is also a human being. You know he heard the chatter from the fanbase and the groans from the crowd when he missed a wide open jumper.

Finally figured a good player comparison for Heise (when he's hitting his 3's): PJ Tucker
Not lengthy but a physical 3&D player. If he is a 35%+ 3pt shooter, he's playing 25+ mpg next year.

Tucker was 6’5” but 225 lb forward. He was more like Kenny Pratt than Heise imo, as an undersized (below the rim) power forward. As a junior he averaged 16 points AND 9.5 rebounds, earning Big 12 POY and All American honors

To me, it mostly looks like "see open shot, take open shot" without the pause wondering if he should. That's how we need him to operate.
Oh, I'm thinking more of NBA 3&D glue guy PJ tucker. I can't quite remember his game in college, but I'm assuming he had to adjust his game since he didn't have the height to play the 4 in the league.
I said it early in the year, but Heise being able to score, whether it is open 3s or cutting to the rim, 100% raises the ceiling of this team. We know what the other guys can do. They won’t always have good games, but that’s ok. We can’t have Heise be an empty uniform on offense, where teams can sag off of him. They can’t now and the offense has been better…even without Curtis being on fire or Gilbert hitting circus shots in the lane.
It’s impressive how he changed his game and became a very good NBA player
In college he a 6’6” forward with a bad vertical and modest ball handling, and went only 2/4 on 3Ps.
