I kinda disagree on this. Belichick brings similar things as prime (not in the personality part) but in that people will watch just to see them fail and others will be cheering for them to succeed.

Add in the fact that sports media will be tripping over themselves to cover this the way they do with prime and I would also expect a sizable ratings jump. If they actually do ok (I don’t think they will) that number will go even higher like when Colorado is ranked.

Prime puts in the work for recruiting (transfers). I don’t know that I see Bellicek putting in that work at this point in his career.

UNC is a top-5 public university, that's a huge part of their identity, I'd see that as more of a driver of where they want to be.
If there were betting odds, I would agree their odds to the Big 10 are better than the SEC. I do think that being in the 'Southern' conference is a big selling point for a lot of their fan base though. And while the SEC is not the Big 10 academically speaking, being in the same conference as Vanderbilt can be a selling point for the academic folks there if the invitation ever comes.

In the end this is all stupid. There is no going back but really wish we could just go back to the Big 12, Big 10, Pac 12, SEC, ACC, and Big East.

I agree but you meant to include the pac12 right? I would love to go back to six 10-12 team leagues but I have have a better chance of waking up next to Brooklyn Decker tomorrow morning than putting this monster back in the jar.

I agree, but it ain't happening. And I don't see the ACC surviving. The only thing that has kept them hanging on by the skin of their teeth is the GoR that will eventually expire.

They just seem like they're one of those proud southern states.
During Sherman’s march Georgia told him you better treat South Carolina worse that you did us and in the march of the Carolina’s, Sherman was a lot softer on NC than SC because of it had more pro union sentiment. A lot of southern states hate each other and some of that sentiment carries to this day. That’s why I always thought it would be odd if NC ever joined a true all confederate conference.

You’re probably right but I don’t see either the SEC or Big ten being too eager to add Clemson or FSU so I could see a future in survival.

I could see realignment cooling for awhile while the current landscape and payments get settled

How would it?
I guess survive is a relative term, the PAC 12 still survives.

Really comes down to tv negotiations again. Maybe there’s room for both to be roughly equal revenue and maybe there’s not. When B1G and Sec compress themselves as the p2 more, I expect there to be less money for both the ACC and B12.

I just don’t see the ACC surviving as those two big conferences align in content and exclusion. They’ll have room for more inventory.

Love the new profile pic. Finally realize you fit in better with us than the Illini leftovers in IC?

from the ACC tv ratings, im not sure who'd add value to the big 12 aside from miami, fsu, and clemson.

Do we want FSU? Their glory days are behind them and their egos don’t seem to recognize that.

Give me Miami, NC State, Clemson, and Duke or Va Tech depending on who the P2 takes. Get to 20 teams, form two 10 team divisions, play your division in football and meet the other division winner in the CCG. Play single round robin in basketball.

Don’t exceed 20 teams. We’re not a charity for current P4 teams to find a guaranteed home.

The idea that UNC hired Belichick to have the Deion effect seems like a stretch to me. Maybe not that that is what they were hoping, but that it will work out that way.

Deion brings the Deion factor, because of his personality and his outlandish character and actions etc. None of which I would say Belichick has even a slight bit of. Belichick as far as I know is known for a lack of personality more than anything.

The hire may bring a bit more eyes because it is such an outside the box hire, but I would not say because he brings the Deion factor.

I guess we will see how it goes.
Belechick was also hired to teach them how to do moneyball-esque roster management. With NIL you need a GM as much as a coach.

And also the splash factor.

And also he can date other coeds if he likes.
