well done, however i refuse to laugh.BrokePacMountain?
This might be the cleverest thing ever posted on CF.BrokePacMountain?
Would be interesting to see if the Montana and Dakota schools make the jump up to FBS in the MWCWhere would you go next to get to, say 12 members (for football)? (16 seems too bloated for the situation). You may include schools not on this list.
6 Pac (so far):
Boise State
Colorado State
Fresno State
Oregon State
San Diego State
Washington State
MWC remainders:
Air Force
Nevada
New Mexico
San Jose State
UNLV
Utah State
Wyoming
Unlikely to return, but not impossible:
Cal
Stanford
To reach into Central zone:
Memphis
Rice
Tulane
Tulsa
By extension, who does MWC take for back-fill?
Listened to a few minutes of Greg Flugaur's podcast this morning, he indicated UNLV was at top of list but they didn't jump in with the initial 4 schools. He mentioned the 4 new adds are requiring they have equal voice in additional adds, something OSU & WSU had originally resisted.Where would you go next to get to, say 12 members (for football)? Cal & Stanford are not going to join until forced by an ACC implosion.Where would you go next to get to, say 12 members (for football)? (16 seems too bloated for the situation). You may include schools not on this list.

I don’t disagree with the feeling behind this but a degree from Stanford is life changing. Similar for Cal. Considering those schools have much more of an emphasis on Olympic sports it’s the rare time when the degree is more the worth the hassle.I feel for those athletes at Stanford and Cal. Two great universities with an amazing experience. A great, historic conference
Then the world changes and you have to fly across the entire country for a game against school that has no history with yours.
**** realignment
I believe they got $65 million from the schools, and have around$250 million with all assets. I wondered what was going to happen after the football scheduling fell apart a couple of weeks ago. That’s ultimately why this happened now I think.I get what OSU and WSU are doing here. But when you start looking at financials I scratch my head. So they settled for 5 mil from each from the departing schools (50 mil) and signed an anti-tamper contract with mountain west (40 some mil) that you broke in less than 4 months and then you are telling these schools you'll pay their exit fees (18 mil each). And then expect to get some sort of decent TV deal with this new product that makes you sustainable?
As a Tulsa fan, please please please let them us even though we are a TINY schoolWhere would you go next to get to, say 12 members (for football)? (16 seems too bloated for the situation). You may include schools not on this list.

Somewhat surprised they didn't take Air Force. There's some juice with those academy schools, offer different things only academies can.Where would you go next to get to, say 12 members (for football)? (16 seems too bloated for the situation). You may include schools not on this list.

Does seem like AFA would have some cachet. Still could add at some point, but will it happen, since it already has CSU? Maybe "TV market territory" consideration is changing and it's becoming moot (I'm no expert in that realm).Somewhat surprised they didn't take Air Force. I don’t know (I’m guessing) if those market territory applies near as much to academy schools.Does seem like AFA would have some cachet. Still could add at some point, but will it happen, since it already has CSU? Maybe "TV market territory" consideration is changing and it's becoming moot (I'm no expert in that realm).
I would guess the the P6 now will try and grab a couple other schools to get to 8, the number needed to be a conference champ and into the playoff by 2026 and then see what is happening with the ACC. If that league is torn apart after next season, then Cal and Stanford may be looking to move back to the P6 to bring the league to 10 teams. This is just my opinion. But I don’t see the MWC backfilling with FCS schools. Idaho went to FCS and is more competitive then they ever were in FBS. The Montana and Dakota schools are winning national championships and well funded so why move up where you will never win anything.
I can’t help but think we will just see a reshuffling of MWC, AAC, and CUSA teams into two conferences. I also think some teams may use the new landscape to take the Idaho route and move down to FCS.
I completely agree with that. My point was I don’t see the MWC, AAC, and CUSA all backfilling with FCS schools.I would guess the the P6 now will try and grab a couple other schools to get to 8, the number needed to be a conference champ and into the playoff by 2026 and then see what is happening with the ACC. Oregon St and Washington St. out smarted the MWC conference with this deal, taking the best teams from the MWC instead of joining the conference themselves. I would guess the selling point is by joining with them, the schools have a better shot at getting a play off bid starting in 2026 than they would have by staying in the MWC.
