UConn, Villanova, Creighton, Gonzagaif the big 12 goes down this path of basketball only schools, we have to take nova too, that's a no brainer. Probably Georgetown for dc market, and 1 more.

or maybe you expand the season and play 40 games before march? or it becomes April Madness with the basketball adding another month to extend the season. And just like that you have a 19-game conference season, playing everybody once.
Or 20 games with only 1 H/H "rival".
Selfishly I'd replace Gonzaga with Marquette just to get another regional team but Gonzaga is probably the better add.UConn, Villanova, Creighton, Gonzaga
Where did you get the impression of 'basketball only'? If so, why would there be stipulations with UConn to facilitate football? From that article and everything else I've read, football by no means will become second tier. It's just that a P1 basketball contract combined with a P3 football contract will be very close to a P2 contract.if the big 12 goes down this path of basketball only schools, we have to take nova too, that's a no brainer. well, uconn would be added w/o football. and there is no guarantee uconn will ever be in the big 12 as a football school. so, for a period of time, uconn will be basketball/olympic sports only.Where did you get the impression of 'basketball only'? I saw on reddit that UConn football wouldn't start until 2031. I think that would change some opinions on adding them (in a positive way). Brings them in right away for basketball, gives their football program some time to improve.well, uconn would be added w/o football. and there is no guarantee uconn will ever be in the big 12 as a football school. so, for a period of time, uconn will be basketball/olympic sports only.
hold on to your hats!
With the Big 12 Conference reportedly in “serious” expansion talks with UConn, a new report from Action Network‘s Brett McMurphy says there’s another layer to possible Big 12 expansion.
According to McMurphy, if the Big 12 was to bring UConn on board, it would then turn its focus to ACC teams, including teams that could have natural rivalries with the Big 12.
“Keep your eye on what happens in the ACC,” a source told McMurphy.
I'm guessing he's talking Louisville, Pitt, and VT.
Did I read that article differently? I thought there were stipulations on football investment. Of course, they might not meet those requirements (which is what you may be alluding to), but then they'd be in conflict with the 'agreement'. What consequences, none of us at this juncture know. It's speculation. However, to even infer a required investment in football, suggests very strongly, an intent by BY.well, uconn would be added w/o football. and there is no guarantee uconn will ever be in the big 12 as a football school. so, for a period of time, uconn will be basketball/olympic sports only.
those upgrades in football look steep. it took WVU years to catch up to the rest of the big 12, and WVU was far ahead of where UCONN is at. Im not sure Uconn has the deep pockets for it.Did I read that article differently? I thought there were stipulations on football investment. Honestly should just skip over Nebraska. They haven't been relevant since before the current student athletes were born.LOL way to many trees in Nebraska.
Because we need to all come to the realization that we are a basketball first conference and it's not even close. Why?
The B12 will initially target all ACC schools in their "Magnificent 7". Louisville and Pitt aren't part of that group and hopefully the B12 doesn't need to go past that 7 if the ACC implodes.According to McMurphy, if the Big 12 was to bring UConn on board, it would then turn its focus to ACC teams, including teams that could have natural rivalries with the Big 12. “Keep your eye on what happens in the ACC,” a source told McMurphy.

there is zero chance the big 12 is getting UNC. I think BY will target who he thinks he can get--and who ESPN and Fox tell him the big 12 can have. Would the big 12 rather have fsu and clemson with unequal shares, or vt and nc state as equal members? The B12 will initially target all ACC schools in their "Magnificent 7". VT and NC State. Only reason to take FSU and Clemson is to kill off the ACC and to get others like VT and NC State that would be long term.there is zero chance the big 12 is getting UNC. I would think Big12 media consultants would have a pretty good idea who is going to be available for the Big12 since FOX & ESPN are the in the drivers seat with Big10 and SEC respectively. And ESPN/FOX basically share (60/40) investment in Big12 media rights.there is zero chance the big 12 is getting UNC. this aligns with what I said about 5 pages ago. And frankly, what I thought the LAST time we were talking UConn, before the PAC12 final break up. I may end up being wrong, but going down this road seems to be BY's strategy.hold on to your hats!
