Honestly, if OSU and WSU end up in a P4 conference then what was the point of breaking up the P12 in the first place? I still think they end up in the MWC when it is all over. Cal and Stanford may join them in a couple years when the ACC blows up.
They got sorted to their level of media value. B10, B12, ACC, or left out.

I think they'll likely end up in the ACC, but not before something happens to the ACC GOR. There's too many members for it to simply go away like the PAC, the remainders will pick up a few schools and continue on as something better than a G5, but a distant 4th.

It’s fun for me to pretend that MHVer is Oliver Luck’s burner. WVU guy who is plugged in.
His narratives are interesting but I’d never bet the house on anything he says.

This is all very entertaining, and I enjoy it that way, especially the open realignment fan fic by guys like the Dude/MHver.

I think MHver was the guy that reported the specific date and time on the FSU campus (including catering!) where they would be announcing their jump to the Big 12. At least until an FSU fan on campus walked over to the building and posted photos proving that it was all baloney. That was bold!

He went underground for a bit after that one. But never for very long. Some people just love the clout that comes from telling their stories. But they are probably laughing at the people who believe them.

Not exactly sure.
Interesting. I'm assuming automatic qualifier for one or the other (WSU or OSU) for the CFP until 2016. Could that be correct? If it is, the shear amount of money lost to a conference on that one playoff game could be enough motivation to find them a home.
2016……yeah I’d agree that they have auto qualify until 2016

Wilner and Canzano went from promoting and defending 12 teams with powerhouse brands to now 2 teams with little appeal. Sorry guys.

Taking UConn, Gonzaga, Creighton and Villanova as basketball only members also decimates the Big East, they'd have to reach for the Dayton, St Louis, Richmond, Loyola, VCU tier as replacements or go away from their roots which worked so well for them last time.

If I had to guess, I'd say is gathering info for the next media deal and splitting out football and basketball into separate deals. Might as well explore different configurations of potential adds to see what makes sense.
UConn will be required to invest in football too.

My understanding is they'd have until 2031 to get their spending in football up to current Big XII schools at which point UConn football will be added in. And that's when the current TV deal comes up for renewal I believe.

So, this isn't a basketball only addition, like we thought it might be initially.

Yormark has a plan and I think taking the conference coast to coast is a part of it.

Oof if it’s isn’t basketball only that’s tricky, the basketball might be so good it carry’s but damn that’s a rough football add.

Also holy crap the Big12 gauntlet if UConn was added in basketball

When playing in Manhattan or Morgantown or at The Huntsman Center are your 'middle of the pack'-type trips, your league is ridiculous.

UCONN could put together a decent football program in a power conference if they start putting money into it. I feel like when we played them last it was a relatively big game, and UCONN was ranked. Obviously basketball is the big get for this one though. Even Kansas turned around their football program.

I get that thought. But if conferences get to 24 teams, it's logical there will be geographic based divisions in football and basketball. So Iowa State might play a Houston or UConn a couple times a decade during the regular season.

The SEC & Big 10 have added football brands to build up the Conference prestige. But we have also seen a concerted effort by both to balance SOS among teams.

I actually think college sports is moving away from divisions in order to balance SOS so I could see instead if the league got that big you would only play each team once in the regular basketball season.

A UConn add gives a Big12 blue blood men's and women's hoops programs. Does the recent publicity of college stars into WNBA represent an exponential increase in WBB media rights in the next NCAA negotiations.
