I think lots of blame to go around but it all comes back to greed and never being satisfied with "enough"
So when will it be easier to travel to the moon for a game?
The whole thing is insane if you think about it. The fans keep having to pony up, schools will keep up with insanely expensive unnecessary facilities, and even more rivalries lost.
More TV money isn't going back to the fans or for reduced prices. They aren't giving out extra championship trophies either....at what point in time are the fans paying a ton for facilities or NIL say enough is enough.

it ends up being tiers like premiere league. i would bet conference names are gone in 5-10 yrs. we've already destroyed any tradition affiliated with a conference name. get ready for....

I think there will be a Super League within 10 years. Which, for all intents and purposes, is booting out schools like that from the big boy’s table
I’m already there. I stay following this stuff because it’s interesting to watch play out and how it affects schools. But my interest in college sports is about gone. I’ll go to an occasional game but I’ve got better ways to spend my time and money.
We'll see, I don't think we see a CFB Super League ever, much less within 10 years.

So dumb. You just need to understand the long geographical connections between California and the Atlantic Coast. They're basically neighbors on heavily edited maps.
If the ACC extends invites doesn't that open the door to reworking their TV deal and negating the current GoR?
Umm never? Sports valuations keep going up, teams both professional and college keep making more money, ticket prices and concessions never go down and people still show up and tune in every year.
I disagree. SEC doesn't even want to schedule more conference games and a lot of these schools don't want any harder of schedules. I just don't see these powerhouse schools wanting a 30 league super conference. Somebody has to lose. And even the top teams are still going to lose more than they do now if they're playing the top teams week in and week out.
see my posts. you wouldn't be playing only teams within whatever this super conference is called.
maybe you get 6 games within it. another 4 from most nearby P5 schools not in it. still even have 2 gms vs G5 school. perfectly even schedules for every team within this super conf. but also still give a few slots into CFP to teams not in this super conf.
Oregon and Washington would win a lot more in the neutered P12 than the B10. And they still left.

But just to be devils advocate 10 years ago no one thought Colorado would be back in Big 12 let alone Big 12 having a big role in taking down the PAC.
I have to think that the ACC would need to open their GOR to facilitate and we know that FSU and Clemson are gone the minute they do. If there is a path to add Stanford & Cal to the ACC that would mean ESPN would need to pay for it and if they are willing to pay for the ACC I would assume that they would give the same to deal to move to B12. Less Cost for travel and relationships with the past 4 corner schools I would think B12 would be the favorite if Yormark and the AD's want them.
Doesn't matter. If you put the most elite 24 or 30 programs/brands into one superconference eventually there's going to be a top half and a bottom half of that superconference and that bottom half will no longer be viewed as elite.
I agree but Colorado leaving the PAC to go back to the Big 12 is a minor ripple compared to the B1G and SEC dissolving to allow the creation of a superconference.
Stanford and Cal make some sense for the ACC. Its goal should be to prepare for FSU & Co.’s eventual exit, no later than 2036. When that happens, you want to be big enough to be able to survive and fend off the Big 12. And who knows, if the ACC loses FSU and Miami but can hold onto its middle tier, it might be able to even poach the Big 12 - UCF would be an obvious target in that case.
And those schools are snobby enough to be enthralled with playing Duke, UNC, UVA even if means flying across the country for all of their games. They see themselves as better than the Big 12.
