I'm going to really miss the 10 team league with true round robin home and home and an easy to set up conference tournament set up.

Tournament couldn't be any easier now with 16 teams. Those first two days in KC will be epic, 8 games! I wonder if they'll sell an all-sessions pass?

I deleted my Twitter a while back. Is stew Mandel getting absolutely hammered in his replies section? The petty part of me wants to make an account and just send him the screenshot where he said the B12 is worth AAC level money in reply to every tweet

Reality is an easy thing to complain about, perhaps the easiest thing. The consistent, persistent, nationwide media bias against the Big 12 - does not get any easier than that.
One thing that should help is the current expansion is bringing at least four high profile media people in the fold: Al Michaels (ASU), Matt Barrie (ASU), Joel Klatt (CU) and Chris Fowler (CU). I know Michaels is old and not involved in College Sports much, but it's better than nothing!

I listened to yesterday's audible podcast with Stew and Bruce.
Not sure if it's been mentioned here, or if it's true, but Stew said Kliavkoff told media corps last year he wanted 75% of B1G's new deal, and he was basically never taken seriously after that.
Said Kliav kept telling ADs the deal will get better after he presented a crappy one in Feb and as of yesterday nothing changed, and ADs got pissed.

No one wanted to give them a TV deal. Who is going to give them a book or movie deal?
Are you kidding? The book or movie would make more money than the $200 million media package Apple offered.

I'll bet you a happy meal we'll see a book or movie down the road. For the movie, I recommend the following actors for key roles:

Yormarck: Tom Hanks
Kliavkoff: Christopher Walken
Canzano: John Malkovich
Wilner: Gary Busey

B1G blowing everything up in their quest to outdo SEC. So sad. Total ineptitude by Larry Scott and the PAC 12. And then the continuing with GK. ACC has seen their future. The GOR actually only thing keeping things together.

Big 12 is stronger now. We own the Mountain Time Zone. We have good football and the best basketball got better. We will attract eyeballs. And we have passionate fan bases. Rivalry games are always a draw. We have some great rivalries. We are the Dollar General of Athletic Conferences. Lots of people shop Dollar General.
I wonder abt the ACC tho. Will FSU get a hedge fund or the Saudis to give them 1B$ in exchange for 30 years of future media money so they can buy their way out? Would that trigger others to bail as well, citing loss of a valued member?
Interesting times.

Its entirely possible this will go down as one of the most colossal failures in college football. The Pac12 hubris that GK exhibited was thrown back at him with a $19 mil valuation by a ******* phone/computer company lol

What PAC members should have done:

1) been incredibly skeptical of Kliavkoff as he kept delaying the presentation of his “incredible” media deal

2) realized Colorado was being rational the minute they started cozying up to the B12, instead of continuing to denigrate the “truck stop conference”

3) maybe start the process of leaving when Kliavkoff suddenly said he had a media deal ready after Colorado left. If it takes a member jumping to get you to produce your deal, you know it’s not “incredible”

4) if none of those things made you ready to jump, the instant Kliavkoff finished his presentation the remaining members should have been burning the phones and getting offers. It shouldn’t have taken a week to decide to leave; it should have been hours.

Instead we got a week of delay, discussion, more badmouthing of being “forced” into such a terrible conference, rumors of an miraculous last-ditch survival (even though Arizona had apparently already left), and near bridge-burning of the only lifelines left for these schools. So smart!

Don't worry. Then Big 10 will get more teams in. That probably won't change.
My only fear, how likely is it the Big 12 gets even 12 teams in the tourney at 18 schools? There is a chance a few deserving teams are going to get left out.
The big 10 will probably still get 5 teams in between 9-11 seeds like they do most years. Some of which are undeserving. But they also upgraded their basketball prowess with their west coast expansion.

The big 12 will also play a little different. It won’t be the bottomless league it has been over the last couple years, and with no round robin there will be some teams that get buried by a tough schedule and teams that benefit from a weak one.

Metrics will tell the truth as it will be much more of an apples to apples comparison when rating these similar sized leagues.

Pre Kliavkoff - Should've realized after a few years Scott's vision of the Pac12 Network was controlled more by the media outlets than his own vices and accordingly should've jumped into bed with ESPN for 50/50 when it was offered.
