I won't pretend that Texas and OU weren't a big loss (particularly in football), but the new Big 12 is in great shape. If we grab Gonzaga and UConn for basketball, we will have 5 of the top 10 brands in basketball.

Utah (along with BYU, Cincinnati and Houston) really help the conference maintain a pretty good image in football. It will be interesting to see if anyone grabs the mantle the way OU did after the Big 12 was formed.

Solidifies the Big 12 as the best basketball conference ever. This needs to be done
How much do we pay them, and if they are added does it take $ from the other 16? or would the media partners kick in for them?

That is the big question for me.

If every school gave up the .7M of the 31.7M, it would give those 2 schools about 5.5M each.

That would not be a horrible option, but I dont think anyone would be happy giving up more than that. Unless One or both of the media partners agree to kick in what is needed.

They are going to be constantly red assed. And they've never had to deal with fan bases that actually care. Buckle up skin flUtes.

I nominate this to become their nickname like we had the Whorn$ before (and I guess for this yr)

Is this the highest number of schools changing conferences in one day? Can't recall the timeline of Realignment War I (2010/2011)
Not only same day, but pretty much for one shift. Everyone else (at least at the P5 level) has been 1S and 2s since the B12 was formed.

16 is a great #. I might be in minority, but I like more protected rivalry games. Create easy road trips for fans.

In FB
Grp1: ASU, UA, BYU & UU
Grp2: ISU, KU, KSU, CU
Grp3: WVU, Cincy, UCF, HOU
Grp4: TCU, BU, OSU, TT

Then rotate 2 teams from each of the other 3 groups each year.

In Hoops - 18 games
Within Group: Home & Road
Outside Group: Home Y1/ Road Y2 or vice versa.
Is this your way of saying PODs without saying PODs?

I heard a bunch of talking heads today saying how bad it is now that UCLA swimming has to travel to Rutgers and how hard that trip will be. I thought about it and I’m like, wait, Nebraska and Iowa non revenue sport teams have been traveling to Rutgers and vise versa for like 13 years. They’ve made it work. I bet you anything the trip from LA to NY is easier than the trip from NE/IA to NY. Just drunk thoughts :)

If I was a basketball recruit going to Iowa State and potential trips to nice Winter destinations such as Orlando and Tucson and Phoenix and Houston, that would sound good with me.

I wonder if they come back begging for a partial share.
In FB I really would like to keep Farmageddon. I'd like to play KU home and away every yr in MBB. Yeah I know this yr we play them once and in Hilton, but I like the KU-ISU series even if KU doesn't consider it a true rivalry.

If you look at their few losses at Phog you see disproportionate ISU wins among the rare ku losses.
