What a day! I can remember doom scrolling 2 years ago, and also back in 2012. This outcome seems so unlikely.

ISU fans deserve this and big 12 conference mates deserve this. This is a huge win for the underdog.

I’m am going to reverse cave troll this thread for a while. Everyone’s getting likes tonight!

Too many pages to keep up with. But I saw somewhere in this thread that someone tweeted Gonzaga and UConn to the big 12 as basketball only members. Hope that happens. I also said that was my desire a few hours ago. Before said tweet. To drunk now to figure out how to add quotes. What a day!

Not to be cruel, but this is a reason NOT to simply extend lifelines to any school. Who the Big 12 brings in must add value to the organization.

WSU and OreSU may be fine schools that we can empathize with, but it will be survival of the fittest in five years. If they add value - great. If we are just giving them a lifeline - they have every chance to dominate the MWC/PAC and get a seat at the table. It worked for TCU who once was in the SWC, got demoted, and is now back.
The only way they add value is if they bring another media partner to the table which is OKed by FOX and ESPN to do games that they pass on and the media partner has a large budget for meaningless games.

Would Uconn and Zags, be BB only....or all sports except FB?

I have seen it said both ways but I assume they mean all sports except FB.

I wonder what Uconn would think of not being able to bring their FB team.

Adding UCONN and Gonzaga would be an absolutely bonkers bball conference. That being said, I'm pretty indifferent to it. They just feel like weird fits but if it makes Yormark happy then I'm down

I think these Presidents etc, just like being affiliated with the other high profile schools. ASU liked being affiliated with Stanford. They all claim that affiliation somehow gave them a better image, and more money, but most of all it was all just about optics.
And that certainly is a factor and makes sense. Presidents want to be affiliated with other schools that have high academic profiles.

But people saying things like moving conferences is going to gain or lose a school research dollars is just not reality. It doesn’t work that way at all.
