That would be funny.
Agree, I can't wait for it. All I've been told by all my B1G friends is, "You don't want the Ducks, Knight is going to try to control the conference." Well, why would it be any different in the B10 when he is getting less than everyone else? I know the B10 has ultra money, but don't, don't ever underestimate the hubris of a billionaire.

While TCU and Houston found their way back home, Rice and SMU are still in the desert after once being in the SWC and unceremoniously demoted when the Big Xii originally formed.

Rice, SMU, Idaho, NM St, USF, now probably WSU and Ore St are all teams with effective relegation.

It’s hard to list UConn there given they only had major fb a few years and can’t make a sandwich without accidentally winning ncaa tournament.

It’ll be absolutely wild if Cal or Stanford find themselves in this group. They should ask “bad culture fit” BYU about going independent or MWC vs big 12.

Huh?

Our protected rivals will probably be three of KState, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Colorado, West Virgina, Cincinnati. I’d be shocked if UCF was one.
16 is a great #. I might be in minority, but I like more protected rivalry games. Create easy road trips for fans.

In FB
Grp1: ASU, UA, BYU & UU
Grp2: ISU, KU, KSU, CU
Grp3: WVU, Cincy, UCF, HOU
Grp4: TCU, BU, OSU, TT

Then rotate 2 teams from each of the other 3 groups each year.

In Hoops - 18 games
Within Group: Home & Road
Outside Group: Home Y1/ Road Y2 or vice versa.

I could see Stanford trying the independent route, at least for a few years. I have a hard time seeing Cal make that work.

Stanford plays just about every sport possible, many in all different conferences or Indy, which is partly why the win the Directors Cup every year.

They feel like they could be a west coast ND, but it would be difficult to see them get a indy deal like ND. So who knows.

Well a few other notes.

AZSt is now an added wrestling member

all 4 corners are adds to Indoor track, they all currently are independent in Indoor track

Wonder if the B12 will add beach volleyball as a sponsored sport, now with 4 schools in Beach volleyball, with TCU, I could see a few of our southern schools add that. Even others now that they have indoor venues for beach volleyball.

4 schools will have womens lacrosse. Which is something that is growing fast.

Maybe they should give Apple a call.

Testifying
I get people saying this isn't good and regional rivalries are better. Of course they are. But we're at a time when most ADs fully fund every sport from football and these TV deals.
It's more important than ever if we want to sustain wrestling and women's bball at a high level to get these good TV deals.

Not sure if true, but seems plausible given the state of their athletic department

It is true. However, the school (UC Berkeley) took over half of the debt from the athletic department.

My guess is if they’re not able to find a home the school will just take it all on.

It is somewhat complicated by a recent CA Supreme Court ruling that limits the school’s ability to increase enrollment, but if they just change the mix to more out-of-state admissions they won’t even feel it.
