Depends on what they mean by merger. But if it means merging the conferences and has a media deal tied in there, then FSU, Clemson, etc. have their golden parachute to jettison out. There's no way that doesn't give them the leverage to null in void the current ACC GOR.
Sometimes I just can't fathom the logic (or lack thereof) of some people on the board. ESPN owns ACC on the cheap. ACC ego teams want more, now! Pac12 in desperation wants to merge with ACC? Which effectively would eliminate the ACC GOR, which opens up litigation from ESPN for them not fulfilling the contract OR even worse yet opens them up to market negotiations for a new media contract. I just can't see enough money coming to the table at this time for that no matter who is involved.

The combined conference would get money. This is a pretty decent lineup at the top.

Oregon
Washington
FSU
UNC
Duke
Virginia
Clemson
Arizona
Pitt
Miami

Washington was complaining about increased travel costs to the B1G. Lol. Travel would be even higher.

Big 10 call has been scheduled to discuss Oregon and Washington today.
This might be a nightmare scenario for those douchebags. They wanted to avoid being called out at the one who killed the conference, but if Oregon and UDub go, it's unofficially dead and everyone with an option runs for the exits.

So it sounds like they got their numbers last night from B1G, told the B1G they weren't going to take the deal, told ole GK to fire up another meeting baby, let's sign that piece of **** deal, which then made the B1G come back with another offer?

If I'm Arizona and hear that Oregon and Washington are back in B1G talks not even 12 hours later, I'm leaving yesterday.

Yeah, but only 3 of those 10 you listed would be from the PAC. It could possibly mean more money, but why pay the other 6 PAC schools more than what you'd have to pay them to stay the PAC? Plus, to pay more, you are changing the contract, changing the contract would open the GOR, open the GOR and FSU, Clemson and at least one other are gone immediately.

No. Rework the schedule. Taking ****** Uconn because 'the schedule doesn't work' is as dumb as it gets.
Yea, conferences have played with an odd number teams for extended periods. Going with an 8 or 10 game conference schedule is the most traditional approach. But there are ways to get creative.

The Big12 will be fine at 13 teams and still allows looking at basketball only adds.

People dis on UConn because they have a bad football program. For as bad as their football program is, their mens and WOMENS hoops teams are just as elite. Their basketball teams might be worth $10-15M.

No different than Jayhawks. They aren't earning their $32M based on their football, but their MBB.

All I know is the PAC messed up not putting all of this on tv the last month. They could have paid for their own deal at this point. Seriously, just look at the fever pitch in here the last hour alone. This all made into some sort of tv product would have garnered some eyeballs.
