Well evidently it was Washington that got cold feet.

The only way this makes sense is if the B1G made this low offer with no promise of eventually becoming full-share members. Which would be a first in any of these conference realignment moves, I think.
I'd amend your statement to include "during the current contract period".

Get your Cyclones nutcups on. Always had a sneaky feeling that this was all too good to be true.

The b1g played OR/WA just like they played Mizzou. They weren’t actually interested in the teams, just destroying a P5 conference. The only difference is Mizzou made the mistake of jumping based on a wink and a nod.

That is almost certainly not true. I don't have time to do the research now, but how many times in the past decade have decision making boards given their presidents the authority to make the call? In part because these things move fast and there isn't always time for the public formalities.
Take UCLA as an example, they had to circle back and get the California system governing body's permission prior to it becoming official which resulted in the negotiation that got Cal the ongoing payment from UCLA. You're right many times it is all but done prior to the board formality, but that vote happens at one point or another. In this case Arizona was very open and upfront with the Arizona Board of Regents unlike UCLA, Oklahoma, etc.

Then go to 8 games. **** 'em. Have you seen Georgia and Michigan's schedules? Holy soft. And they're the #1 and #2 teams in the nation, most likely. Their SoS won't diminish their playoff chances.

The year TCU got screwed they had a better sos heading into playoff/bowls than Ohio St but the big 10 committee and media still used schedule strength lies against them.

A big 12 auto bid nullifies that worst case scenario where reality gets thrown out the window so b10 committee gets its fav team in every season.

No nutcup needed. Strong third. No one’s leaving. PAC will not last with everyone looking elsewhere.
Yeah there isn't any need for us to feel like we're getting screwed in this deal.

We've got a solid media partner for 7 more years that has a big piece of linear involved and each school is getting a good amount of money.

Stay at 12 for football.

14 for basketball with UCONN & Gonzaga.

Can we do that?

I assume there are plenty of teams who would want to be in the Big 12 and supposedly Uconn would jump right on it but are we now in a tight spot to get a quality 14th school if Arizona pulls out? Who pays for a G5 addition?

Zero chance they are meeting with the intent to sign a GOR. 8 hours ago, a minimum of three teams were looking to leave. You don't just come up with a GOR and a meeting in 6 hours.
I don't know. If the reports yesterday are anywhere close to true, then the Apple deal expires by the end of the day.

IMO, not B1G, but instead Fox. They opened up the B12 thinking 4 would join at a discount, and then be able to get OR/WA on the cheap because of desperation. It wasn't so much as a bluff, but rather a smart strategy cause there's no real losing here on their part. If the extra 3 to B12 doesn't happen, they save on both the B12 and B1G expansions. But, they were still looking for the cheaper additions for the current contract period.
