He's hyper focused on the finnebaum comments about the PAC being done by the year 2026. Taking them super literal. It's really weird. Otherwise it's super optimistic about the PAC 12, he gives 40% chance the PAC survives and poaches big 12 after the next deal.
It was interesting last week that ESPN talking heads Finebaum (SEC), Cubelic (SEC) and Herbstreit all spoke about significant further realignment and it happening sooner than most expect. When Herbstreit talked about ACC schools he mentioned this fall, but more likely next spring.

Makes a person wonder if the tail (Networks) is wagging the dog (Conferences).

Dunno looks to me like SDSU resigned from the MWC.

Looks like they **** themselves in the foot here….

Can someone explain why the first paragraph appears to state they are formally giving notice they are leaving, then the second paragraph seems to ask for an extension to formally give notice to leave?

All these guys, are A) guessing/speculating, and B) talking about it because they know realignment talk brings views and clicks.

You can put these guys in the Dave Wannstedt category.

The first paragraph says they intend to resign. I think they meant that to be a technicality in that they didn't actually resign yet. But they wanted another month to get their ducks in a row before officially resigning. And they were subsequently told to pound sand.

@isucy86 So you think someone like Finebaum has inside knowledge of the dealings these conferences...especially outside the SEC? The guy knows little about anything outside the SEC, and realignment is for sure not his forte, he is no better than any other of the so called media types that have speculated for more than a year about this. I also doubt he has intimate knowledge of the business dealings of media companies, even ESPN, are not sharing their business dealings with a guy like him.

These guys know what gets people's attention.

Love how the Pac 12 thinks they can poach the Big 12.... like, um, you gonna come up with 70 million per school to get Big 12 members to jump? Ain't gonna happen.

Give me the cliff notes. Can’t listen till tomorrow. Please and thank you. I’ll repay you in virtual blunts.
Jason likes the Big 12; says Arizona is a basketball school. PAC sunshine pumping is generated by Washington State & Oregon State because they have nowhere else to go. Most of the schools prioritize academics over athletics. Utah is very happy where they're at; but any of the schools would sprint to the B1G if invited (duh). Acknowledges PAC snobbery and hubris has led to their current predicament. The new expiration date is media days.

The Boston College AD already spilled the beans on that. Back when the the Big East was breaking up and they were taking criticism for leaving their conference rival he said something to the effect that it wasn't their fault, ESPN was behind it.

Dave Wannstedt and his mustache are awesome and don't tell me otherwise. He said ISU is going to end up in the Big 10 so he's awesome. Sure, he was on a golf course and probably drunk. It doesn't mean that I can't accept it as truth.

I love the midwest (grew up there), I love mountain region (just spent a week in Utah and travel through Utah/AZ/WY all the time for vacations), and love the west coast (lived there 9 years) so I say this with absolutely no cultural judgement of anybody...

Utah fans who think they fit perfect with west coast schools but have no culture fit with Big 12 are just the strangest people imaginable. I have a feeling they say that but the truth is "We told ourselves we crushed BYU through conference realignment so sharing a conference would be a gut punch to our inflated ego". Telling themselves the Pac 12 is a better culture fit than the Big 12 is just the strangest method of coping. If Cal/Stanford/UCLA/USC had said that I'd get it...the other 8 don't really have any kind of radically different "culture", maybe Washington since it's in the middle of a big metro.

I'm cool with it either way on Utah. Great football over the past 20-25 years but I don't see any reason they should be the bigger program than BYU long term and BYU's already in. Knock yourselves out staying in Pac/MWC but give me a break with the "culture".
