Lol, no. Sorry. Sure there were theoretical talking heads saying maybe it could happen as part of it all. But that announcement, when it happened, shocked the country. Along with the fact that the B1G kept the lid on it and there were zero leaks about it before it was announced.

Yes and no.

Specifically at that precise moment within a year or so? Yes.

But, if anybody thought the Pac and ACC weren't going to get raided EXACTLY like the Big 12 at some point...that person is a naive moron who understands nothing of this entire thing. No "maybe" it could happen, I was 1000000000% sure on a long enough timeline.

I mean if you allowed me to wager on it, I'd have wagered every dime I have that major Pac and/or ACC schools were going to the Big Ten and SEC within 5-10 years. ESPECIALLY after OU/Texas move, but even before then.

ISU and KSU fans are basically Nostradamus of this $*** because we've had many years worried we'd be in the position Oregon St and Washington St appear to be in right now. I mean if you're an avid ISU or KSU fan realignment is like the 3rd major college sport, I bet we all spent more time on it this summer than the actual major sports...and this was like the fifth summer of doing that. It's different for a Big Ten fan..."oh cool we added Penn St", "oh weird we added Rutgers", "oh cool we added USC" are vastly different then "wtf! Our midwest school that has played in the Big 8/Big 12 for 100+ years might have to join the freaking MWC?!?!?!"

This tweet is the first time I've heard Yormark quoted specifically saying that he's looking westward for expansion. I also found it interesting that he emphasized competing at a high level in basketball as well as football.

I thought his comment about getting in the 4th timezone was very interesting. When looking at the current speculation around the 4 corners, CU and Utah are Mountain time. Arizona is odd in that they don't observe daylight savings, so for most of football and all of hoops season UA and ASU are also mountain time schools. Putting all that together tells me he is looking to the Pacific schools. His comments about fit and culture combined with comments on wanting good hoops and football would lead me more toward Oregon and UW then versus Stanford and Cal.

I think they are obviously interested in Oregon and Washington. The question is are they interested in the Big12? Get the Corner Four and apply the pressure. Those two probably end up in the B1G anyways, but there’s a chance one or both get left out of the B1G.

What are their options if the corner schools defect to the B12? PAC12-2-4+MWC? I'd think they'd have to jump or run the risk of completely disappearing from the public consciousness.

If they're there when the PAC crumbles, I think they get added, no question. Sure, they want a P2 invite, but who doesn't? Maybe they get that invite in the next round, but so what? They'll have raised the conference payout for as long as they're around.

Interesting. I read it differently. Taking into account his emphasis of "alignment" and "like-mindedness", I don't think Oregon fits the bill. They're trying to bully the PAC around like Texas did to us, all while seeking opportunities to bolt elsewhere. Not so sure they would have the same long term commitment to the conference as the rest of our ragtag gang.

To be clear, you obviously take Oregon if you can, but I'm not sure I'd describe them as a like-minded cultural fit. I'm still thinking the AZ schools are what's on his mind. They'll be Pacific time for most of football season.

Fourth time zone, that’s UO, UW, Cal, Stanford, WSU, OSU, SDSU. Hmmmm, AU, ASU, UU is mountain time, but culturally fit well hmmm we’ll see. What if big ten told UW, OU thanks, but no thanks. Utah fan base got out into place Saturday. BYU is the bigger brand from Utah so not sure we need them.

I know it was 100 degrees in LA when this pic was taken, but how many fans do you think would show up to Jack Trice if it was 100 degrees? I'd say 50k..... or 60k if it was against Iowa.
I understand and can somewhat agree with the 100 degree argument. But how much different was that from the ISU v Baylor game? Or any ISU game at JT when it is 90 degrees with humidity

Sure temps impacted, but so did opponent & fans aren't excited about Chip Kelly.
