Way back that was reported, when the Pac opened their exclusive negotiating window. It was reported that Fox was not interested in negotiating and only ESPN came to the table. There has been no indication that this was not true, and every indication that the Pac had only offers from ESPN.

I agree doubling up schools in low population states has it's risks.

However I don't see that being an issue. In the case of ASU & UA they are located in the 14 largest state with 7M+ people.

With Utah & BYU we aren't talking a huge state, just a little bigger than Iowa. But we are talking 2 very rabid fan bases.

Geographically, the 4 Corners schools make a lot of sense when combined with current Big12 members.

Also, BYU is also a national brand.

Thanks. I guess now I do recall hearing only about a lackluster ESPN offer. I guess I missed the speculation on Fox and didn't put 2+2 together.

That’s simply false.

It was one of the most probable outcomes coming. That’s why so many Big 12 fans balked at the notion of the Big 12 schools going to PAC- the PAC and ACC were next. That was the issue in April when the MN fan acted like he leaked some inside info but he was just exploiting those that were ignorant. A coming P2 was obvious and USC/PAC with known discontent.

The surprising thing is we got until June 30th before it was announced/confirmed. Last summer I had expected we’d hear in the spring.

Lol, no. Sorry. Sure there were theoretical talking heads saying maybe it could happen as part of it all. But that announcement, when it happened, shocked the country. Along with the fact that the B1G kept the lid on it and there were zero leaks about it before it was announced.

I'm all for it from B12/ISU perspective, adding all four.

If I was an ASU or UU fan knowing what I know about realignment, I'd be furious if we weren't getting ready to jump as a package deal with those other two that are more slam dunk adds.

Big 12 doesn't even think about fussing around if they approach B12 as a group. If the whole thing completely crumbles and B12 is just shopping the garage sale, there is a chance they get burned.

I view Utah and Arizona State as better adds than Arizona and Colorado.

Conzano really needs to stop proposing the Big 12 schools as potential PAC10 expansion targets. He’s giving his reader base false hope and hurting their attempt for stability.

i think the stability of adding all 4 corner schools outweighs any drop per school income, as long as it isnt a significant drop and i highly doubt it would be.

All 4 are power 5 programs that are either good at football and have a rabid fanbase, or are in large markets.

This would all but kill the Pac 12, which is the goal to become #3. That way when Clemson, FSU, and Miami ditch the ACC the Big 12 is there for VA Tech, Pitt, and Louisville.

Probably realistic, but there's just something about scenarios where the Big 12 is only a player for B1G and SEC sloppy seconds that rubs me wrong.

SIAP but this story about record low Rose Bowl attendance backs up my anecdotal evidence that UCLA has no actual sports fans in the universe. I lived 3 miles from campus for 5 years, saw no UCLA sports fans. Now last three years I've lived about 7 miles from Rose Bowl, no evidence of any UCLA fans whatsoever. Final Four run? No evidence. USC does have a buzz around their campus/stadium/downtown on gamedays.
