All they have to do is convince ESPN and FOX to make a rule to force Notre Dame to join a conference. That conference would be the ACC. Then the ACC is fine. The money, academics, and tradition in that conference rivals the SEC and BIG 10 all day. Virginia, Carolina, FSU, Miami, Clemson, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Pitt, Va Tech, Duke, etc....????? That's a lot of tradition, pride, fans, alumni & money. Plus, it's in the Sun Belt. The ACC probably isn't going anywhere.
ESPN doesnt want to do that, they would then have to renegotiate that sweet deal they got. ESPN would rather cancel that deal all together and end the ACC and get the brands like Clemson and FSU in its Cash cow SEC. But ESPN does not want to see the ACC add ND because that would allow them to enforce the clause to renegotiate the media deal.

The last time Nebraska was relevant at a national level no current high school recruits were even born and they lost their Texas/Oklahoma pipeline when they left the Big 12. Not to mention it’s a low population state. I couldn’t disagree with you more.

That's what people were saying about Notre Dame in the early 2000's. And Texas in the 90's. And Oklahoma in the 90's. And Bama in the late 90's/2000's. And USC now. And Iowa since the beginning of time.

To clarify, several here are suggesting dumping WV, Cinci and UCF.
Anyone arguing that is stupid. Cincy is in a good market and has a great fan base. WVU might not add tons of money but stable conferenes don't just start booting out members for different members either.

People severly underrate UCF too. I totally get that theyre out on their own island there but they have one of the largest enrollments in CFB, Florida is a great place to be able to recruit out of, and they climbed the ranks from being FCS in football 20 years ago to moving to a P5 next year. The program is constantly growing and getting better. It's not like we added regular bottom feeder USF here.

Somebody will pay up for an ACC with Notre Dame. Why only have two big conferences when you can have four? Why regionalize college football?

So a fun part of this will be watching the Iowa and Nebraska fans reaction when they have the 10:00 PM kickoffs. I'm sure that'll be popular.
I’m trying to imagine who in LA is going to get up for a 9am kickoff between Indiana and Michigan State. This really makes no sense from a market standpoint.

Honestly, I don't see the value in Cal or Stanford. If they were valuable, the PAC TV deal would be worth more. It wasn't just OSU and WSU dragging that down.

Anything beyond the 6 talked about teams is a non-starter for me.

Giant market, actual fandom not big.

The transition from markets to actual fans hasn’t helped them.

The AZ schools probably have more actual eyeballs.

Historic UCLA coming off a final 4 with everyone back drew like 7500. Nobody in LA cared about 7pm tipoffs on campus. Yeah they don’t GAF about their own ****, let alone the rest of the big 10.

I'm so sick of realignment ****. Just get to the endgame already. I honestly don't think this ends well for college sports but hey some teams are going to make a lot of money for a bit!

It ends with nobody cares about minor league pro sports, especially if your region gets left out or your alma mater got squeezed out.

For Stanford and Cal, look outside the sports money. Stanford is basically an Ivy in terms of endowment, and Berkeley is one of the top 5 public universities. The Big 10 still likes to tout itself as an academic organization, and no one fits that profile better than Stanford and Cal-Berkeley.

They're gonna end up taking Oregon, Washington, Cal, and Stanford.
