EIU was also the only school that chose to list 3 rivals they wanted to play each year, so they have put themselves in that box of little flexibility.
Memphis has to be far down the list of prospective schools to add. Nothing wrong with giving them a look, but Memphis has to figure this is their last chance to get the brass ring, and get moved up to the P5 level.
tOSU and PSU opted to not list each other as a protected rival, one less guaranteed slobberknocker every season. There were strategic reasons to opt for protected rivalries and to not opt for them.
Memphis might be worth a look, but probably not realistic until the B12 is backfilling after the SEC and B10 both go to 24 schools.
I'd take the 4 corner schools because they are available now. Plus I think over the long haul those schools will grow in prestige as population growth continues in SW US.
I like those ACC schools equally well, just don't know if they will be available in 3, 6 or 12 years.
The ACC schools are not going to be available in the current round so the question is moot. Even with that I am not sure any of those bring drastically different value than the 4 corners, and with the 4 corners it adds to new timezones.
As much as I would like Pitt and LV in the Big12, the 4 corners are bigger, better. Utah trumps them at football, Arizona at bball. And they add a time zone, and they are more aligned with this "mexico" adjacent-market strategy BY is running.
The correct answer of course, is both. Eventually, when the ACC breaks up due to B1G/SEC poaching, all 4 of those will be available, and I will be happy to have them.
I would take VaTech, NcState, Louiville and the Buffs in this stupid hypothetical.
Expending west has always been a stated priority for Yormark and the 4 corner schools plus BYU would allow the Big12 to fill ESPN's Saturday late night slot. IMO a big reason ESPN agreed to the prorata clause in Big12 TV deal.
IMO its inevitable that ESPN jumps ahead of FOX's Big Noon (11a CT) kickoff and televise a Big12, ACC or SEC game played in ET zone at 10am CT/11am ET. That might allow ESPN adjust kick times on one of their linear channels to:
10am CT
1:30p
5:00p
8:30p CT
I'm pretty sure CyTown will work, but it sure is going to be a big change.
I would take the corner schools as well but wouldn’t bank on the continued population growth considering they are already having water supply issues
H2O. If we can send people to Mars, we will figure a way to make water.
I don't see people's propensity to like warm weather change. But people are going to need to learn to conserve water like other limited resources.
4 corners: CO, UT, and AZ is THE huge growth area over the next 50 years for this country. Everywhere else is going to be small growth, stagnant, or declining in population and everything that goes with that.

I think we just need to take the corner 4(or 3 and UCONN if one is set on staying). Get to 16 to match the SEC and B1G. If the PAC stays and we don’t get any, then just stay at 12 for now. I’d like to match, but we shouldn’t add just to add if there’s no P5’s coming.
