If Florida State is mad about the dilution the recent expansion had on value they get from the ACC, why would they agree on a merger with the PAC, which drops their value even further.

This idea that Syracuse is going to bring NY City into the conference like Rutgers does, doesn't work for the B12 like it does for the B10 for one reason, the conference does not have a TV network, let alone one based on the idea that by adding a new state, you get to charge that state the premium rate instead of the lower rate.
The B10 adding Rutgers makes sense money wise for them, but adding Syracuse adds nothing money wise to the B12 than Louisville doesn't.

Couple things. Syracuse is same distance to WVU as Louisville. Syracuse is closer to Pitt than Louisville. So distance isn't a big deal with Syracuse.

Yormark did a media blitz in NYC last fall. So he obviously realizes the value of the Big12 having a presence in NYC. My comparison to Syracuse to Rutgers has nothing to do with the BTN revenue model. It has to do with 3 years living in the NYC area and feeling Syracuse got more visibility than Rutgers. It was Penn State and Syracuse in FB.

Based on the Big12's media rights structure, I feel Louisville and Syracuse have very similar values. But Syracuse extends the Big 12 footprint and gives Big12 schools visibility in NYC. Just don't see Louisville Kentucky moving the needle.

True, but its also further away for every B12 team currently in the league except FSU. While it might not affect WV or Pitt a lot, it does the rest of the league.

Louisville also has a built in rivalry with Cincinnati, WV, and Pitt, which would make it easier to drive to for fans from the rest of the conference.

No one cares about Rutgers and the only reason they were added was to get the NYC tv market on BTN, if a state does not have a school in the conference, the league only charges customers in the state something like a dime each month, but if they have a team, that goes up to over a dollar a month. NYC brings in the money, because its across the river from NJ, that is how they are bringing $50 million a year into the league in revenue.

If you are going for quantity (ie 24 team nationwide conference), and for basketball, they are a perfectly good school with some good history. And so would Louisville, and every other leftover ACC team (except maybe BC and Wake).

If you are just adding 2 schools from the ACC to pair with 2 PAC teams, and stopping at 16, then yes, there are better choices than Syracuse.

Since when do you control conversation on a message board? This isn't the DMR, it's a platform to discuss topics, if you have no interest, don't read. For me message boards are the modern version of the corner bar, where people bull-$hit on any and all topics!

East Coast realignment is a valid conversation based on Double Fries straw man for ACC dissolution You might not agree with the Vlog or maybe you think the ACC is going to be around until 2036, but money is usually a pretty big motivation for change. I agree with SE Clone, the only reason Rutgers is a P5 school is the BTN revenue model. There is no way the other P4 conferences would have added Rutgers.

IMO (yes my opinion) Syracuse would be a great choice in a 20 team Big12 once CFB moves to 3 Power Conferences. Look back, ACC expansion in 2013- the ACC adds were ND, Pitt and Syracuse. Louisville was added when Maryland decided to leave a year later. I also feel Louisville's athletic department has a history of being a bit sketchy.

20 Team Big 12

East Coast Division
WVU, Syracuse, Pitt, NCST, Va Tech

Midwest Division
ISU, KU, KSU, OSU, Cincy

Southern Division
UCF, Houston, Baylor, TT, TCU

West Division
Arizona, Arizona, Utah, BYU, CU

I would like Louisville in the Big12, but that would probably mean a 24 team Big12.
