Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

They spent most of their history playing together.

If the alternative is drowning in whatever remains in the PAC, they'll come east.
They play every year anyway, right? So what’s the difference if they are in the same conference?

The more that time goes on the more I realize how much I don't want Memphis in the B12.

I'll admit it, years ago, I was like 25% on that train. Today? Zero.
I wasn't thrilled with the idea simply because the writing was on the wall for the PAC 12 and they didn't even know it. Step one was to stabilize the Big 12, and the four we added did just that. Step two was to wait for other things to teeter on their foundations, and they are right now.

Utah has a huge big bro complex about getting the p5 invite and BYU being left out in the cold. They have fans that went full Hawkeyes on my belly with Pac 12 tats, its all over bumper stickers, the conference logo is a huge part of their flex to BYU that they are the bigger program. They can't stand it that BYU will be in a power conference too, they really hate have to crawl for help to that same conference.

Some of my opinion is also based on going to the Liberty vs Memphis. I thought the fan base was extremely arrogant. Like we didn't even belong playing them.

Seems like a cut off your nose to spite your face move given the future of the Pac 12. Get over yourselves and join the Big 12 - that rivalry would be great for the conference.

Wonder if the Wildcats will one day add **** KU to their Bear down tradition.

I wouldn't mind skipping over them to be honest. The Big 12 already has a Utah team. Why not take WSU instead of Utah? The BYU/Utah rivalry can continue as a non-con game, just like it has been.

Assuming you’re right here, this is something impossible to measure. There’s the money, and that’s the main driver. But there’s also the emotional or human element - pride and all the rest. Makes it very hard to predict what’ll happen.

Utah has way more attendance and viewership than most out there, growing faster by the year. They are possibly the 2nd most valuable behind Oregon, Basically even with Washington.

Invite teams that would be content in the Big 12. It sounds like Washington and Oregon really want to be in the Big Ten, which would be OU/UT all over again for the Big 12.

Every team in the Big 12 would take a B1G or SEC invite instantly. So what this really means is that the league would have an upper limit on how valuable a school could be in order to get in. That’s backwards to me. Get the best programs you can. Oregon and Washington would be huge assets to the Big 12 even if they left at the next round in 5-10-15 years.
